seller's feedback. If he/she doesn't have many sales with 98% favorable, or better, feedback, you need to be very cautious.

With that said, the main problem with eBay is that people frequently bid more than an item is worth. You need to know the value.

You may find a deal on what you want through Ebay. But what I've found is that when you encounter a problem, fraud or get ripped off, Ebay is of little or no help to remedy your situation. Because of Ebay's lack of concern for upholding the law and non-existent customer service, I avoid them and recommend others do the same.

Reseller ratings and little things like..

I always laugh when it's a "sealed box" and they show the pictures of the device outside the box, the box opened and more.

Also, a common oversight is that you want to be sure it's the complete kit. Some sell only the camera and you don't get the battery, charger, etc.

Finally, there is that issue of warranty. Somtimes it's an out of country camera without warranty and it can be cheaper, but you take the risk.

and have sold two.

Kidpeat is right.

You have to be careful and place a lot of emphasis on the seller's feedback rating and number of sales.

A reputable seller will not overcharge for shipping and handling.

Buying on eBay

My experience with eBay has been quite good. Recently purchased a Canon EOS 16-35 mm f2.8 zoom for my 10D digital SLR at a very nice price -- over $300 less than I could find it locally. This is a professional quality lens that cost as much as the camera but will last a lifetime. It was delivered within three days for a reasonable shipping charge in mint condition in the original U.S. packaging. Agree with others who have commented on the importance of checking the vendors rating on eBay. Buy only from those with the highest ratings.
