Razr or S710a

by saurabhs - 6/5/05 9:59 AM

I was looking at two phones: the Motorola Razr V3 and the Sony Ericcson S710a. C|net thinks that the razr is better, but by looking at it, they seem the same other than the fact that the S710a's camera is better and it can play MP3s. The only thing that I have seen good about the razr is that it is very thin. Can somebpdy please tell me which one is better.

It all comes down to brand preference and available features. Each phone has its pros and cons, you need to decide which features you are looking for. Both Motorola and Sony Ericsson have unique products. Best bet is to try both phones at a store.

I got the RZR V3

It's catches everyone's eye. Only thing I wish it had was a dedicated speakerphone button.

The S710a is superior.

by pthomson - 6/14/05 8:56 PM In reply to: Razr or S710a by saurabhs

The features and capabilities do not compare. The S710a is a lot more funtional, including being able to listen to mp3's in stereo, you can watch all kinds of video in 3GP or MP4 format. The picture quality great. I guess it depends on what you want. The price alone tells you they are incomperable. On top of that it has 128MB of external memory capabilities. I previously had the Samsung SCH-I600 and the S710a is far superior.

go s710a

RAZR is too thin and compromises on battery life and camera, but i heard the new black RAZR has a 2megapixel camera in it. But i'm skeptical about the battery life.
You're better going with the S710a cos its so much more superior!

Go with the S710a. Our phone rep. had the chance to sell me the Razr. I wasn't up for any rebates; so I was gonna pay full price for it; when they 1st come out. I just love buying a new cell from time time. He told me that he could sell it to me & make a good commission; but he wouldn't do it. He told me before I bought it; to go to a couple different stores & ask about the Razr. so I did. Sure enough; the Razr was having problems with the screen. And they were having customers coming in left & right; returning them, for different phones. Or they were having to send them off for repair. The S710a is phone to go with. AWESOME PHONE!!! My advice is to stay away from the Razr. Since the rep.told me this; I've had several people tell me that they were having resolution problems with their screen on their Razr. But that's just MHO.

A Vote for the RazR

by amazeme - 6/21/05 12:46 AM In reply to: Razr or S710a by saurabhs

I realize the S710a has a higher resolution camera and MP3 capabilities and more memory, but the Razr/V3 is much more portable (can easily fit in any pocket) and Cool looking and sturdy (anodized aluminum) and easy to open (couldn't get used to the swivel of the s710a). The RazR display is superior, and its OS is not as slow as the S710a. Also, the keyboard is better on the RazR. Further, the camera opening of the S710a is fragile, while that of the V3 is secure and protected. Also, the S710a display is not protected like the RazR, and the keys on the S710a are slippery and "cheap" looking. The sound quality of the RazR is better overall, and the battery life of each is comparable. Go RazR!

Portable?

by pthomson - 6/21/05 7:52 AM In reply to: A Vote for the RazR by amazeme

Who carries their phone in their pocket? The S710a has a great holster w/ magnetic closure. You can also buy a screen protecter. The lens cover is plastic but it does stay closed to protect the lens and if you keep it in the holster not in your pocket it won't accidently open. The sound quality is debatable the S710a comes with stero head phones and if you didn't know the S710a can be used without opening the phone. The fact that I can convert any video into 3gpp and watch it anywhere is awsome.

Yes, Portable. Holster? - give me a break.

by amazeme - 6/21/05 9:48 PM In reply to: Portable? by pthomson

If you like to display your phone on a HOLSTER, be my guest. I prefer to stick my cellular in any available pocket, and that is possible because of its durable exterior and razor-thinness. NO need for holster or screen protector or other accessories. I also prefer to open the phone to answer a call, to protect the main screen and keyboard, and I like closing the phone to end a call. The RazR screen and keyboard blows away the s710a! And I never will get used to that swivel. I really did try to convince myself in the past that the s710a was the better cellular, but
the RazR in the end is the better overall phone. However, the s710a has the better audio.

v3

by Venichhe - 7/13/05 1:31 AM In reply to: Razr or S710a by saurabhs

The Motorola V3, also called the Razr V3, is one of a new breed of designs that don't underestimate the demand for a cell phone that doubles as a conversation piece. The V3's major wow-factor is the fact that it's only one-half inch thick, amazing for such a high-end phone packed with features. It does compensate slightly by being taller a lot of similarly priced phones, but this simply adds to its slim profile.

The V3 comes equipped with a number of impressive applications, including a 1,000 contact phone book with multiple entries per person. There is also the possibility for creating caller groups and assigning photo images to contacts for caller ID. There is an integrated VGA camera for help in creating that photo phone book as well as to send via multimedia messages to friends and family.

The V3 supports a full set of messaging features, including the ability to send text and instant messages and e-mails. The phone is also Java compatible, with one pre-installed game and the ability to download more. Though the V3 is remarkably thin, it supports tactile-based applications like text messaging and gaming well.

Of course the V3 comes equipped Bluetooth technology and web browsing capabilities for an added dimension of mobile connectivity. The device also comes with rather standard, but useful features for personal organization as well. It supports voice dialing, a date book, and an alarm system
