VNC

by SLeizman88 - 6/6/05 8:58 PM

I downloaded TightVNC onto my desktop and laptop so I can access them both from each other. I have a password set but am I open to hackers with it?

Unlikely. Here's why.

Unlike Telnet and FTP, your name and password is not passed in the clear. And unlike old VNC, you can read what they did to make it "tight."

VNC issues

by GreenAdmin - 6/21/05 11:50 AM In reply to: VNC by SLeizman88

TightVNC is a great VNC program, but all the common VNC security issues still worry me. I'm somewhat in the same boat in terms of looking for a secure remote access application. I came across LogMeIn the other day and it appears much more secure than anything a VNC could have offered. It uses 128/256 bit encryption in combination with Windows authentication, and is still lightening quick. I'd check it out if you get the chance.

Is Rob GreenAdmin a shill?

Look at their posts and it's about 1 software item only.

Bizarre to take the time to post about 1 software title in multiple posts but waffle if they use it.

Not quite..

Hi Bob,
I ended up doing a search on remote access because I had to do some research on my own; I ended up choosing logmein. When I ended up seeing other peoples posts I just chimed in. Sorry if my responses appeared like spam.. I'm somewhat new to CNET.

Thanks
-Rob

Here's the tripwire.

When a new member's posts have only one content or answer.

They usually are a shill or spamming. If you look up Green's posts, it's rather damming.
