Svchost.exe warning

by dirtnapper - 6/15/05 7:25 AM

For the last week, never happened before, Zone Alarm Sec. issues a warning about "svchost.exe" trying to access the net on every bootup... I have scanned with all the usuall, Spybot, AVG, MS as well and find nothing. In Admin. Tools, under Services, I have Messeneger and Services disabled. Should I be concerned, ideas? Thanks.
Using: W2kPro, (sp4).

Make sure that it is svchost.exe not svchost32.exe or other before you allow it.

Svchost.exe warning

by BrianM - 6/15/05 7:37 AM In reply to: Svchost.exe warning by dirtnapper

The svchost.exe file is located in the c:\windows\System32 folder. In other cases, svchost.exe is a virus, spyware, trojan or worm!

Confused/running windows XP

by cnote49 - 1/30/06 3:29 PM In reply to: Svchost.exe by dirtnapper

I also have many svchost.exe's on my computer and I am constantly getting a low virtual memory warning. How can I tell which one is the real deal and which one is spyware or a virus, etc. There is one that is handling many more tasks than the others. Help is this my problem with virtual memory?

cnote49..

Sticking closer to home, you may wish to read here:

http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6142-0.html?forumID=7&threadID=42641&messageID=499859

paying attention here:

There indeed might be a short answer, if it does not legitimately belong there as Donna mentioned here:

Best of luck..
