I have an emachine (T5026) which has a Realtek soundcard. When I try to enable the Voice Chat in Yahoo Messenger. I get this error message: "Unable to initialize your computer's audio mixer".
I did some troubleshooting such as making sure that the microphone is selected and not muted, I can record my voice and play it. So the speaker and microphone are connected correctly.
I have also tried the Yahoo Audio Setup Wizard. According to that program, my speaker, microphone and connection are okay. But I didn't pass the last test, conference. The error message is Yahoo voice chat error: Mixer Error.
Does anyone who has emachine T5026 encountered the same error? If so, please let me know how it was corrected. I appreciate any help.
I have called E-machine support but they were not able to help me
i think it has something to do with yahoo messenger.
i have the t5026 but do not use yahoo messenger as i have no webcam and mic so, i'm sorry i cant help u with ur problem.
Try going to Start>Programs>Accessories>entertainment>and sound recorder to see if ur mic is workin.
if it is, probably, yahoo meseenger is screwed up or somethin.
try using skype.
I have tried the sound recorder and my mic is working. I don't think the problem is Yahoo Messenger because I tried MSN Messenger, too and the Voice chat is not working either. Anyway, I've called the e-machine tech support again. The rep said she will sent me a fedex box so I can send it in for repair.
In some other tech discussions I have read, there are a couple with realtek soundcard that were also having the same problem. I was just curious whether other e-machine owner with realtek soundcard is having the same problem. I figured it is better to find out now while the T5026 is still under warranty.
hmm... i wonder what possible repairs can even be made.
did u try dling the latest drivers from realtek?
how will sending it back to emachines help?
I did ask e-machine tech support if a more recent driver was available for realtek. E-machine rep claimed that I have the latest driver.
As for what possible repairs the manufacturer can do, I don't have any idea. As long as the Voice Chat works (I hope), they may replace the defective hardware or ship me a new computer.
iam havg sony vaio fs 315 b ,experiencing same audio mixer initializing problem with yahoo chat
using realtelk
I just purchased a HP Pavilion media center that also has Realtek. I'm having the exact same audio issues in chat rooms and even errors with the Yahoo messenger that the audio mixer can not me initialized. Also, I can no longer play music through my soundcard into a chat room. I have done a lot of research myself and can not figure out the answer since HP support was useless. I was curious if they were able to fix your computer after shipping it back and possibly having some new hardware installed.
I have the same problem on a new eMachine w3502 with Realtek. I have been trying to resolve for over 2 months now. Appartenly Yahoo does not like Realtek. No one that I can find seems to have found a solution.
I've got the exact same message, and I also have the Realtek sound card. Just so we're clear, here are the spec's on my PC.
HP M1280N
==========
Pentium 4 640/3.2 GH/ 4 GB Ram / PCI Express x16 - ATI RADEON X600 PRO - 256MB / Sound card - 7.1 channel surround / Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
I too can record sound, and play sound back. Go figure.
probably the realtek sound suks. suggest getting a sound blaster audigy 2zs at newegg for around 50 bucks. i know dat sounds expensive but sound blaster live is so old.
I have a new Gateway (March 2005), Pentium 4, 1 GB RAM, with integrated audio. I'm getting the same Yahoo! Voice Chat errors. I've noticed a new BETA version of Messenger...has anyone tried this version to see if the problem is fixed?
I am about to have some conferences at home from my new job. They were going to be voice chat, audio training and Pal Talk. I could not join when i was invited because there were voice error messages.
Please help me to fix this
I've noticed a new (BETA) version of Yahoo! Messenger. Has anyone who has had the Voice Chat Error tried the new version? Does the new version fix the problem?
Thanks for your help.
