I've been trying to connect 2 comps to a network. One of them(JP1) has windows XP pro sp2, the other is a laptop(JP2) with win XP home sp2. I could connect to JP2 with JP1, but i cant connect to JP1 with JP2, it always says \\JP2 is not accessible. you might not have permission to use this network resource... Someone please tell me what to do, appreciate any comments
often lead to this result. Check the Windows Firewall Exceptions tab for file and print sharing.
My exceptions already include File and printer sharing.
Thanks
Have a look at

Is the guest account disabled on the XP Home laptop? XP Home cannot disable Simple File Sharing and the Guest account is used to authenticate all network access when Simple File Sharing is enabled.
to Windows 2000. The Win2k box has no problem accessing the XP Pro laptop shares, but I get that error when trying to get onto the Win2k shares. I'm running ZoneAlarm but have the IP address of the laptop (fixed) in the "trusted" section.
This problem is driving me nuts cos I want to use the Win2k box as the Internet connection for all my home networked pc's, as well as to file share.
has anyone any ideas?
changed the Security Policy to "classic" in MMC - well didn't actually change it, but going in and then clicking ok again solved the problem.
just got to get the net connection working now!
Can you be a bit more specific on how you solved this problem?
I'm experiencing something similar -- All the Win2k PCs can see each other fine, and the WinXP PC can see the workgroup, but not any of the Win2k PCs in the group.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
