I may hate MS for their software and their business practices, but I love their hardware. This mouse is very responsive and doesn't "twitch" like many other optical mice that I've used.
For a mousepad, I use an Xtrac Hammer. The thing is huge, so I rarely have to reposition my mouse. It is also a very comfortable surface.
I will never go back to a mouse. My hand falls naturally over the Trackman and I can move the cursor anywhere with the slightest flick of a finger. My arm and shoulder are completely relaxed. I never run out of space so there's no need for the move-lift-move maneuver. And I have a scroll wheel right alongside the ball. And the six programmable buttons reduce the number of times I need to go to the keyboard. You mousers don't know what you're missing.
Once you go track, you'll never go back.
I use a Logitech Wireless on my Dell laptop, and I use the Dell mouse from the laptop on my homemade desktop system. Both are optical, and both have wheels, which are absolute musts, in my opinion.
I use a Logitech MX510 wires optical mouse. I am about to upgrade to the MX 518 model that's also wire and has 1600 dpi. As for the pad ... the one that came with my Dell. Ok so it's low tech!
Re poll, I use a Dell optical mouse and like it very much. It works on almost any surface and is very smooth and a pleasure to work with

I use a Logitech T-BB14 Marble Mouse and I love it! No
more carpel tunnel problems, like I had with the regular mouse. Comes with a program CD which covers a wide range of programable options. Fine moves easier to make with the fingers instead of the whole arm.
I have damage in my right shoulder which makes a normal mouse very painful to use. I find a mouse with a trackball is much better because it stays in one place and no gross shoulder movements are needed. The best mouse of this type is no longer available, so my boss bought a microsoft trackball mouse for my use. The rolling scroll button in the microsoft mouse dose not work very well. I'm hoping other designs will be available in the future.
I use a Logitech MX510
It is very fast and great for gaming. It is corded which is a pain but worth the trouble.
I don't use a mouse pad with it.
I use a Logitech Trackman wheel, both at home and work, wouldn't go with out, the old mouse you have to move around suck. Takes a bit of getting use to but once you've done it, you don't want to go back. Normal mouse pad, but going to pick up a couple of gel pads for more comfort.
I use a Compaq wireless mouse. It's fine, but there's no way to shut it off, save removing the batteries. I replace batteries about every 2 weeks. What a pain. Why don't they have a switch to shut it off at night? The wireless keyboard shuts off when I turn my computer off each night, but not the mouse. Red light blinks constantly.

Hello my name is mongoose, I use the gyrations ultra G.T. mouse. it works on a mouse pad or you can hold it in your hand and use it in the air. You can be up to 30 ft. from your computer! It really helps out with carpal tunnel syndrome I'm not sure if this is how you pronounce it, but you get the idea. Thanks mongoose
I've used several different types of mice and trackballs, but found that I like the 2 button Marble Mouse the best. It fits the hand nicely, you never have to move it all over to move your curser, and the way it fits the hand is very comfortable. You can move the curser by moving the 3 middle fingers side to side, and let the ball roll under them, and click with the thumb and ring fingers. The best Trackball/mouse I've found.
I use a MS wireless optical 2.0 and pad cheapest one I could get
I have LOGITECH Wireless mice on both my Desktop & Laptop. I am happy with them except for short battery life.
