it really depends on what you want out of the system. Dell's websight says A LOT about the two systems. What size screen do you want? Have you read the CNET reviews. The 610 has a bigger screen but isnt' widescreen. THe 610 has better graphics, but they are still a crapy intel chip. The 700m appears more portable, but its still a bad comparison. The Latitude d610 is a moderatly portable desktop replacement. The 700m is an ultra portable. I don't really understand why you are comparing just those 2, cause they are very different computers. Decide what is most important to you, and remember, the more power and screen size, the less battery, and the more battery the less power and screen size.

I've had a new Dell D610 for a couple of months now and I'm very impressed with it. I've had just about every brand there is and previously, thought I would only be happy with a Thinkpad. However, my new T43 is sitting at home and I continue to take my D610 everywhere I go.

I use it with a port replicator at the office and it's been extremely reliable.

The Thinkpad is a great laptop, but the Dell tends to run a little faster, even though they are equipped the same. It may be all the crap that IBM installs on their Thinkpads that slows it down a little.

They are both great laptops and the cost was about the same. Right now, I'm giving the nod to the D610.
