We bought our digital camera, a Panasonic Lumex DMC-FZ20K from Peter at digitaletailer.com. We negotiated over the phone, got a decent deal and a great camera. Everything worked, nothing was misrepresented. We're happy.
I have found that for the extras for digital Photo that the Tangshop.com is great for memory and power supply issues. They seem to have a narrow niche and take care to tend to their customers. I highly suggest that this spot is very good.

I bought a digital camera at an incredible price from Butterfly Photo. I had great service and no problems.
I recently purchased a Canon 20D online from "I Buy Digital". Being such a high ticket item, I was a bit concerned buying from an unknown Internet source, however the savings was tremendous that I couldn't justify not trying. I did my home work, checked review after review at Cnet, Epinions, Google, fine print on guarantees and warrantees, made in USA, etc. until I was comfortable with my decision. I decided on I Buy Digital, best price/reviews and I had a very easy, fast, and professional experience. Yes, they sent me an email and I had to call to confirm, however this also gave me the opportunity to confirm the item was in stock, came as a USA factory sealed packaged with all items, new in box, etc. They asked if I would like to purchase any additional items, I declined, and that was it. No hard sell, no threats. I opted for the standard shipping and the camera came 3 days later. I would certainly purchase from them again.
I hope this review helps put your mind at ease.

It is true that A&M sucks. I bought a camera from J&R Electronics and I was satisfied with their service. They have a low price guarante.
I recently purchased a "NEW" Minolta Dimage X20 from FotoConnection.com. Two days later, an email from them said they needed me to call them to confirm the order! After waiting forever on hold then wading through the guy's speech on how I should buy other things for the camera, I realized I had been bitten.
I called back a few days later and asked MICKEY to cancel my order, which he gladly did. Online, though, my order page still says "PROCESSING" but they haven't charged my card, yet. I called back the day after the first cancellation call and talked to him again and made sure that it was indeed cancelled. It was/is, so I feel a bit better, but I still wonder when/if they will forget I cancelled it and charge me and either send or not send the camera...
Scary stuff.
It is now my fervid stance that I will NEVER buy any hi-end electronics from an online dealer/reseller unless they are a known BIG company.
Just think about how shady some of these places might (ARE) be? Who are we giving our personal and private information to just for a price that is sometimes only $30 or even just $10 different from a trustworthy place?
I agree with you. Even though I buy some stuff on line, I thoroughly check the out and I do not always jump at the first cheap price I see. In electronics, you can get really bitten. I like dealing with reputable dealers such as Amazon. They have a history behind and you know they are legit. Some of those on line electronics store are so corrupt that you really have to do your homework before you order anything.
Also, if domething is wrong, the idea of being able to take it back to a store is priceles.
switched merchandize on me to a less expensive item - I am 78 years old and have been there, done that - I smell a cabal of bad guys - my advice is TO STAY AWAY
This company is one of several online sites which I have learned specializes in misleading & gouging customers. I ordered a Canon digital camera from FotoConnection. It was advertised on their web-site as being factory sealed. When it came this was not the case as the warranty card was missing. By now you have guessed that it was a gray market camera. Even on the shopcartusa site, they advertise the Canon SD800 as being factory sealed & a US model, but when you follow their link you find that is described as having a "US Warranty" (code language for a gray market model). I contacted both Canon USA & the US after-market warranty company used by FotoConnection. Ultimately, I decided that I wanted the US model. When I called FotoConnection Customer Service (?), I got the run-around and had to deal with multiple rude agents over several days. Finally, a representative agreed to replace the gray market model with the US model. So I followed their required procedures for returning the camera & sent it back (at my expense). I thought everything was going to be fine. Then several days later (surprise!), I got a call from FotoConnection telling me that they did not have the US model. After several more phone calls in which I maintained my position not to switch to a different camera, they finally agreed to refund my money (except for the original shipping fee). But then when the refund came through on my credit card, they charged me the original shipping fee plus a 15% restocking fee. When I called Customer Service, I was told in no uncertain terms that there were no exceptions to the restocking fee. I then made repeated calls over the next several weeks to plead my case. I was willing to absorb the original shipping charge but did not think it was fair to be charged a restocking fee since they had sent the wrong camera & they had agreed to replace it with the correct model. When I asked to file a complaint, I was always told by customer service that someone from the refund department would call me within 48 hours to discuss my refund. Of course no one ever called. Finally, after several more calls, they agreed to refund 90% of the re-stocking fee. But it took 4 more phone calls and 2 weeks to finally get the refund. Bottom line, I paid for shipping 2 ways plus part of the restocking fee & spent several hours over a month’s time dealing with rude, unpleasant people on the phone. I eventually ordered the Canon camera from a reputable online company (B&H Photo). Although you might get a good price, FotoConnection is inherently dishonest & looking to take advantage of you. You can't believe anything on their web-site or anything their representatives tell you on the phone.
BEWARE!! Before placing an order for a camcorder, I called and spoke to a customer rep about the camcorder and was told it was a US version. After placing an on online order for a camcorder I received an email from them informing me I had to call them before my order could be filled. Once I called I was informed the camcorder would be a Japanese version and it would cost more to obtain the US version even though their website states a US version. I then requested to speak to a manger. The manager insured me it would be a US version and that it would be shipped the next business day. After several days had past, I called to check on my order and was told that I would be getting the Japanese version and they were out of stock. I insisted on speaking to a manager. The manager told me even though I was told several days ago I would be getting the US version, I would not get the US version unless I paid another $70 bucks. I told the manager I wish to cancel my order and he called me a ***** and hung up the phone. I would not recommend doing business with these people and do not trust anything you read on their website.
I ordered a Canon Camcorder from PhotoConnection.com. There is no indication about US version Or Europe version. I called them 15 minutes after I placed the order online just to make sure they received my order . After they put me on hold for longtime and 3 times somebody answer my call and after I gave them my order number the put me back on hold. finally somebody talked to me. And He asked me "What part of Europe are you going to use the camcorder?". of course that surprised me. I told them I live in California. and he said I have to order the US version which cost a lot more. And I smell something not right. So I decided to canceled the order. But he said cannot canceled it because is already on the shipping department.( but it was Sunday) I told him that I just order 15 minutes ago and I cannot cancel it ???. (And they are not even shipping on Saturday & Sunday) And he was so rude start talking with an attitude and that really pissed me of. And he even told me that if I still try to cancel it he will charge me 10% cancellation fee ($300) ( And that I did not find on their cancellation policy ) . I told him that if he charge my credit card, they will receive a phone call from my Lawyer. And I already spoke to my company lawyer about this matter, and I willing to pay $5000 up front my lawyer over $300 that they will charge me. Hopely I get my money back. But if it's not I have no problem with the money. I just want to put away this RUDENESS people, RIP OFF company. What they are doing is Illegal. After I read all this complaint about them I can not believe this company still running. This people ass belong in Jail and Hell. I hope if this matter going forward I can have some support from some of you guys. thanks
My girlfriend ordered a $154 Sony camera. She received an email stating that we needed to call back. That's when the "customer service" rep, SAM, proceeded to upsell her on a battery and a variety of other stuff. When she just told SAM to cancel, he threatened her with other charges (a 15% restocking fee even though the order was JUST placed. The restocking fee is discussed on the website in terms of returns, NOT canceled orders.) SAM also proceeded to "sweeten" the deal by adding a warranty and a camera cleaning case, even though none of it was asked for nor wanted (classic sleazy sales practice.)
At this point, my girlfriend was very upset at SAM and asked for a manager. He transferred her around and around and then answered the phone himself as "the manager." She called him on it and said, "You're not the manager." He answered, "Today I am."
"Then why didn't you just say that at the beginning?" This was going on for 10 minutes as I sat beside her. She was in near tears at being treated so badly.
Eventually my GF relented and bought the $154 camera for $244. I told her not to do it and not to let them get away with this, but she was in tears from being bullied by SAM. Nope, *I* won't let them get away with this HORRIBLE behavior. STAY AWAY, Consumer. Stay FAR away. I wish my GF would've told me what she was doing before I walked in on her upset, but the camera was my Xmas gift. Otherwise, I would've told her to read the reviews of this sleazy retailer.
I ordered Sony T2 camera and i was in a situation thinking if the order will b delivered or not...
1) I got and email asking me to call to confirm the order. I thought they are asking to call to check the billing. But a person took the phone and asked if i need extra batteries, as batteries wont be included in the package. That was a big LIE, as i know Sony T2 camera is LI battery which will be included in package. Then i said no need and that person suddenly said 'Ok bye' and disconnected the phone. Then i received similar mail the next day and the same happened. This proves they are liers...
2) They had an offer of free started camera kit with this camera. When i placed the order it said "It will be added automatically to the Order". I called them to confirm and they said yes it will be added automatically. I received the camera today, which i had no hopes. Then i called them to check if the free starter kit is sent in another package. Only then they said i need to pay for the shipping cost of 9.95 for the free camera kit. This was not mentioned when i placed the order and when i called them to confirm. So this is obvious cheating. All it was mentioned in when i placed the order was "It will be added automatically to the Order". This proves they are cheaters...
So please dont trust this guys....
Lying cheating pushy bastarts!
I wanted to buy the new Panasonic Lumix from them since they had the best online price. They called me to confirm the order and then told me a whole bunch of lies to trick me into buying extra's. They wanted me to buy extra warranty, but i was not interested. So they said Panasonic did not deliver a battery and charger, but if i'd buy the extra 5 year warranty they'd throw it in for free... I still did not respond and they said, that it was a $60 battery and they'd also upgrade my shipping and handling free of charge. I thought what the hell, doesn't sound too bad. But when i hung up, i realised something was wrong, the guy was too damn pushy. I did a bit of research and found out panasonic does deliver a charger and a battery! And a battery is only $25 at amazon. I wish i would have done more research before letting them talk me into buying stuff. So then i wanted to cancel, but all of a sudden nobody knew what i was talking about. And it seems that even if i didn't want to cancel i still would not have received anything because they messed up my address. And even correcting it was extremely difficult for them. After speaking to 4 different idiots on the phone I spoke to the manager and he refused to cancel the order. I hope my credit card company will help me, i already called them, but they say they cannot do anything for me yet until the card is charged...
Better spend a few extra bucks and save yourself a lot of headaches!"
