Read your post concerning the $562 price. Our stores are selling this for $647. Where did you fine the $562 price?
Indiana stores, at least the Northeast corner has this price. I picked one up tonight. It took some work, they're out of stock virtually everywhere in the Ft Wayne area. $562 @ Wal Mart for a 30744.
Initially had trouble finding this TV online after my wife described it from the store:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=2601425
It says "OUT OF STOCK" .... but maybe that's just their on-line sales (which you prolly don't want to cover shipping of a 132 lb TV anyways)
Just bought the sanyo HT 30744 I got it 396.00 at walmart i bought the demo model and they had lost the paper work on it plus the remote control. I was wondering if there where any special cables that came with the tv. or a disk of somesort. and what do you think about the no menu key on the tv itself. i have ordered the remote and manual from sanyo but they did not say anything about any cables coming in the box. so was wondering what cable i might need to buy for this set.right now it is unable to be set to widescreen to watch movies and such no remote control. would like your opinions . Thank you.
There were no additional cables. You will need the remote to get to the complete menu, and then can adjust everything. Composite cables do a perfect job and audio cable required too. Disk came in box, but not necessary. Great color and picture, and an opportunity to buy further warranty should be taken. JT
This sounds like the best HDTV for the BUCK. After readimg your report i am off tomorrow to get one. I have digital cable, will this set work????
Thanks

I've had the TV for about 2 weeks. After setting it up with the AVIA disc, it is an amazing value. It is particularly nice with DVDs. Upconversion to 1080i from 720p is actually pretty good and on the air reception is outstanding. I recommend this tube to anyone that doesn't have a big budget but doesn't want to make alot of compromises.
I have it paired up to a Yamaha RXV-1500 with Genesis Physics Model 2s as the mains and Model 1 speakers making up the surrounds. This set-up rocks. These too, are excellent values. The Yamaha is reviewed on this web-site and the Genesis speakers are vintage late 70s. You can get these on E-Bay for cheap. You would have spend at least $1,000 to find speakers of equal value. They blow away my Bose 901s which I have in a separate setup.
We just purchased the same tv from walmart and we thought it was a great value...but when we watch dvd's there are diagonal white flashing dots across the screen??? and with the analog tv channels the same thing. we replaced our cable hdtv box three times and still they are there. we tried 3 different dvd players and nothing changes. tried composite cables, componenet cables , s-video, but our dvd's look like crap. any idea? or have you heard of any one having the same problem? thanks, ang
Ang,
I can't help you with this problem but here is a good web page that may help you with this.

hope this helps,

I assume its a 30" diagonal measure. What is the height and width of the screen? thanks
the width is 35.7 and the height is 22.5 in
I am seriously considering buying this TV as its an awesome deal. I have only one worry; Its native scanning is 1080i and it upconverts all other signals to 1080i, so I'm wondering if the other resolutions end up looking worse? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Has HD reciever built in? So that means only need to suscribe to a HD service like Directv or dishnetwork?
thanks
I guess I am going to muddy the waters:
I have a 30" 16:9 Advent from K-mart, If I knew the Wall-Mart Sanyo had HD built in I probably would have bought that, but:
- I am viewing off the air HD, Samsung external SIRT351 tuner, on ABC and PBS.
- DVI input is a joke no improvement over component, and $100 for the cable ! ($25 at one computer store.)
- At time PBS has been spectacular...............like 1% of the time! Most stuff seems out of focus. The best times are like in an Italian village, with lots of signs, bricks and colors, also some printed maps and book pages are crystal clear.
- Not impressed with ABC, like Peter Jennings (4:3) face always seem washed out. Desperate Housewives (16:9) ..............not impressed.
- Sometimes when PBS simulcasts HD and regular D, I will switch back and forth. All the difference I see is a little fuzz on regular D.
- Home movies/DVDs greatly improved in progressive scan.
- Estimated my horizontal lines at 720, wonder if it is important to have 1080 lines?
- I would say my set is poor if it weren't for the occasional (1%) spectacular stuff, AND the greatly improved regular TV. No lines, nice saturated colors. One satellite (big dish), B-ball game, (analog), was like being in the arena!
No home DVD burning, 4X the data, for this?? So far disappointed and confused about HD!!!???
Mike
That TV won't be around at next year Super Bowl GOOD LUCK!!!!
