Yes I have seen this BUT....

by Jstrong01 - 3/3/05 5:41 AM In reply to: but have you seen this? by sean007

Yes I have seen this but our Rep for VOOM has informed us that this is not intirely true. See there is two owners of VOOM. They are brothers and one wants to keep VOOM going and the other wants to shut down. In order to keep it going VOOM will have to change it's name and start a new web site, which they have (www.voomllc.com), to stay in business. We are a retailer of VOOM and we have it in our showroom. I have to say that it is truely amazing. I love it! But once the family stops the fighting everything will be fine. You can still order if you want at anytime. Thanks!

I have read complaints about the Motorolla Receivers

by tedrik - 3/12/05 1:27 PM In reply to: Voom is not bad at all... by Jstrong01

Do you have any info on the fact that the Motorolla receivers that VOOM provides are inferior and lock-up and lose information frequently? I have read this on customer reviews. Tedrik

Voom

by big guy - 3/25/05 3:23 PM In reply to: Voom is not bad at all... by Jstrong01

You must not be following the news about Voom. They are selling their uplink center and sat to dish net and they have a big family fight going on for what's left. It may be shut down soon because dish isn't buying the customers list.

DISH TV HMMMMMMMM

by MajorCB - 3/25/05 3:12 AM In reply to: Satellite TV providers--who to get? by ahi

DIsh has the best plan avaiable now with the exception of Vroom. HOWEVER they subcontract thier service to people who, in my area, are definately illegal aliens and can not speak English well. All they can do is install not service.
They got a rude suprise while talking Spanish in earshot of my wife. They were discussing how to rip us off and were told politley by her in Spanish to remove them selves from our proprty or have the Sheriff do so and Confiscate thier vehicle and eqiuipment as they were illegal aliens. VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM they dissapeared.

PS: Local BUsiness who used to service DISH and Direct no longer does so because they pay CHEAP. He now gets 100 an hour from his door to end of call fees

Satellite TV

by Carol77garr - 3/25/05 4:08 AM In reply to: Satellite TV providers--who to get? by ahi

Hate to burst your bubble but we got rid of our 2 satellites. Last year, we had a lot of storms & rain & during a rainy or cloudy period, you won't have any TV to watch. We got tired of it so we went back to a company with a special for TV, phone & internet all in one package & we are much happier. It costs more but you have to decide what you want: TV watching or money. You choose. I'd never get a satellite TV unless I could afford to have both & then, what is the advantage?

DISH NETWORK - I couldn't be happier!

by mikeyheymikey - 3/25/05 6:24 AM In reply to: Satellite TV providers--who to get? by ahi

I've been using Dish Network since 1996 and have had no problems at all. I was reluctant at first to go with satellite because there was a 1 year commitment plus I had to puirchase the receiver. That has changed over the years. Now you can sign up by the month and there's no charge for the receivers. I'm now subscribed to the Top 180 package and Showtime Unlimited and my monthly bill is still lower than our local cable company's Top 70 package (with no premium movies). Every DirecTV subscriber I know has had problems with installation and service. I know I have made a good choice.

DirectTV

by ollis - 3/25/05 7:19 AM In reply to: DISH NETWORK - I couldn't be happier! by mikeyheymikey

We have DirectTV and the cost just went up again. Our 1 year contract is up next month and we are debating on switching to DishNetwork. Also....when we originally signed up they were doing a promotional thing and we were told (in writing) that after 6 months of service we would recieve a surround sound and DVD. After 5 calls to them all we keep being told is that they are on back order. I hate being lied to!

Dish Network Customer Complaint links

by Sees it Real - 11/30/07 4:16 PM In reply to: DISH NETWORK - I couldn't be happier! by mikeyheymikey

Hi mikeyheymikey,
Mikey apparently you are one of the very few who have had a reasonably good experiance with Dish Network. I have suggested to many they perhaps using google search type in > dish network customer complaints,Then start browsing the links that appear,A couple good ones being > my3cents.com or ripoffreport.com,Several others will show up on search pages,Apparently Dish Network likes to go into Customers Bank Accts "Unjustly" and Make Withdraws and from reading Customer experiances it looks like That is a Common Pratice for Dish,You'll see when reading Complaint links,I myself have had people tell me it was when they were trying to Leave Dish Network the going into Bank Acct Started,I myself was told by a previous customer(s)of Dish that his equipment was already At the Location they told him to Ship it To and Dish was Still Trying to get Money from Him,One person told me that he wasnt even a Dish Customer any longer and they were Still Taking $3.00 a Week from his Bank Acct,He Closed Bank Acct and Opened a New One,I could go on and On, Now I have actually Met a couple people who Will NOT pay Dish by Credit Card or Check (check route number)and they Dont,They pay by Money Order,NOT Allowing Dish to have access to Bank Acct Numbers(check route number)or Credit Card Number because he had heard to much prior to getting Dish. So I suggest searching for dish network customer complaints and see what past customers Experiances have Been with Dish Network,Reading those links will speak for themselves,It Appears that Just bringing Up Dish Network will provide Another Customer Experiance at times.
If you or another Do have a Bad Experiance with Dish Network,The Parent Company of Dish Network is Echo Star in Texas,They Do have a Link, web page with a phone number on it.

Programming Might be a Consideration

by laowai - 3/25/05 8:28 AM In reply to: Satellite TV providers--who to get? by ahi

In deciding which service to get, you might want to consider their premium program packages, as they do vary some in what they offer. Although I heard nothing but good things about Dish Network from friends and co-workers, I decided to go with DirectTV for one reason: they have an exclusive contract with the NFL which permits me to receive out-of-market pro football games, not just the few which are fed to my local area. The two services are also not identical in other premium areas, for example the international packages.

you forgot to consider

by awiser12 - 3/25/05 10:43 AM In reply to: Satellite TV providers--who to get? by ahi

In this day and age we pay for convenience...you forgot to consider:

Cable services are regulated by the FCC, State and local franchise (your town, city or Village)...satellite is not

This means a level of service, higher than that required by the aforementioned "regulators" must be maintained by law

This regulation includes customer service levels and response time

Cable providers customer service is available 24/7...

With hundreds of service vehicles to monitor service calls, response time is near immediate...satellite is not

Satellite service calls usually have a cost associated with them unless you have paid for a service package (thats a cost)

Cable providers offer free service calls...everything is free...they do not nickle and dime you on service calls. Both providers do charge for extra boxes, remotes and special upgrades

Satellite service is more frequently interrupted and affected by high winds, bad weather and obstacles in the path of the signal.

Both providers offer mega-sports packages, international packages and HDTV however, if you are an HDTV junkie, Satellite may offer more HDTV packages currently (about to change)

Satellite does not offer interactive 2 way communications currently (and all associated Broadband offerings... CHECK YOUR AREA FOR LOCAL OFFERINGS)

The price of sattelite may be 2 or 3 dollars cheaper but the convenience of free anything, near immediate repair, interactive offerings, freebies
and of coarse satellite dishes look great sticking up from the landscape or enchancing your roofs appeal.

Make a valued decision, your satellite "contract" cannot be cancelled at anytime (as cable can) without severe monetary penalties.

you work for the cable company?

by big guy - 3/25/05 6:10 PM In reply to: you forgot to consider by awiser12

I used to have what is now ATT cable. I had their biggest package and i had a lousey picture on most of my chanels. I had the top guy who manages that department out to my house for a whole day trying to figure out why. We had fibre optic cable running to my area and they added amps to the system and still bad. They finaly said sorry they couldn't fix it and left. That's when i went to sat.

Dish -v- cable

by tomden2 - 6/28/05 3:56 PM In reply to: you work for the cable company? by big guy

I too had cable for many years. I got really fed up with terrible reception, outages, and poor customer service, not to mention that my rates kept going up. When you're the only cable company in town, why worry about customer service? I changed to Dish in 1995 and have never regretted it. Yes, I've had some problems during that time, but they have always been handled them very well. T

My cable company is the best

by jasonkornbau - 6/28/05 6:11 PM In reply to: Dish -v- cable by tomden2

I did have Directv. I can't get a single when it rains or storms or after it storms. They came out and checked everything but still had problems. so I canceled. Then I went to DishNetwork Caulse They are cheaper. Their tech support isn't great at all nor is Directv's. So then I went to Suscom (A cable Company in York,PA 17402) I had Suscom ever since i did away with satellite. Their Tech support is alsome. They are Local and stuff. So Cable is the choice for me.

sat -v- cable

by fatso - 7/2/05 4:16 PM In reply to: My cable company is the best by jasonkornbau

Yes when it rains HARD you WILL loose signal strength. There is a way around this problem, BUT NEITHER co will mention it, as the cost is something NONE of them want to absorb, but they DO NOT TELL their customers, even if they would go for it, and that is a LARGER dish 5-6 ft.
This is what is the STANDARD in AK, PR, VSVI, due to the fringe areas those places are in. !
