Discuss the poll for the Wednesday, March 23rd AnchorDesk newsletter (http://www.cnet.com/2001-6033_1-0.html):
What concerns you most from Symantec's Internet Security Threat report?
1) Smart phones getting viruses
2) Crackers focusing more on Macs
3) Crackers turning their attention toward Mozilla
4) Nothing, Symantec profits off fear
I reported an error in 2000 to them and the bug is still in their product.
I asked about Spyware protection in 2002 and they response was "It's not a virus."
My answer is that Symantec's best have left the company.
Bob
Since my Live Update failed and told me that message Symantec said to reinstall. The computer was new and the software installed by dealer with no disc for my usage.
I am currently looking for a more reliable vendor. Symantec my foot!
Error: "LU1848: Couldn't create callback object"
This is the error that would not take in the Subject Title!
Sells one of the worst antivirus solutions in the market, and yet they're still used as a parangon to compare other antivirus programs and to get "professional" opinions.
So far all the responses are from people who vent their anger at Symatec, instead of answering the actual question. I guess it is a convenient place to vent. It's like saying the whole Armed Forces are useless bec. one soldier didn't protect your chicken coop, bec. he was off saving the town. (-:
I think Symantec has helped millions of people, and it's rated BY THE PROFESSIONALS as the best out there (even with its small errors).
What scares me the most? The new programs that infect your computer that don't have to be opened (see the article on this web site under "Commentary" "Security Watch".)
System Works 2005 premier has a recovery CD which to boot to and you can then scan from the CD by using virus definitions on the hard drive or what's on the CD. I feel much better doing that than using the actual program if I suspect my machine has been compromised.
