What is the current state of the art on cell phone video?
by lvirden - 3/22/05 2:54 AMComing into work today, I was wondering whether any cell phone on the market would support the equivalent of video phoning - live streaming video both incoming and outgoing. So that two people could have the equivalent of a _useful_ video phone conversation.
Anyone know?

3G is the answer - sort of.

Video calls between my Sony Ericsson V800 and my partner's Nokia 6630 work adequately, but they ain't pretty. It's sorta like watching streaming video over a 56k modem connection in my experience. I don't find myself using video calls very often and I doubt if I ever will, but that's a matter of taste.
