A Third Option

Actually I would go with the third option, I would do neither. I am going to still with Internet Explorer rather than either of those waste of code.

Good and Bad

It looks good for the most part and pretty much works like they all do. I found it intrusive in that it would pop up when it was not the default browser. For now I will stick with IE and Firefox and Avant for certain operations. It is also guilty of code bloat.

Firefox puleeeeezzzz

For an everyday user, Netsscape 8 looks like it'll give the best of both worlds.

I'd prefer however, that instead of caving into I.E.'s dominance (undisputed), I'd wish that browsers would simply push W3C compliance, and browsers with 'all over the map' compliance with stuff like CSS, etc., etc. would be pressured.

From a developer's point of view, it'd make life easier if you'd just make sure your site was standards compliance, instead of having to test in multiple browsers/platforms to make sure the 'quirks' allowed the site to work/display properly.

Maxthon Rules

by dalmation1938 - 5/16/05 5:03 AM In reply to: Firefox puleeeeezzzz by trevc

I used IE with my first computer because it was there and during that time was trouble free. After reading reviews of other browers (before the Firefox phenomenon) I changed to Avant. Again trouble free. Then along came Firefox so I thought I would give it a go. It worked well for a while but, reading their forums I was surprised at the number of problems people were having. However as I said it worked for me and that was all that mattered. Then one day it all fell in a heap. I posted my problems on their help site and was inundated with solutions, all of them different. So I thought, browsing should be an easy and pleasant experience and once bitten twice shy and all that. So here I am now using ''Maxthon''. It has all the feel of IE plus tabbed browsing and a few other improvements. I know every ones taste is different, and that's probably why there are so many browsers to chose from but for me ''Maxthon'' does all I require. If anybody asks me to reccomend a browser then this is the one I'd suggest.
Regards.
Mike
