Camcorder to DVD using Nero

by 604chic - 1/19/05 7:23 AM

Hi there. Am new to this, and my first attempt was pretty poor.
When I am viewing the footage through pc then the quality is perfect, but as soon as I try to record to transfer to DVD the quality suffers a huge amount, with around 1/3 of frames being dropped. I am using Nero6 and for everything else it is spot on. Can't afford to invest in new software right now, so is there anything I can do, or any free software that will help me.
ps using firewire port for transfer.
Cheers

Camcorder to DVD using Nero

I have never used nero software. All I can say is this - When you capture and process your video: check all the options for video capture and processing, make sure you have selected everything (whereever there is an option to choose) as the best. Also, if you have an option for bitrate, choose constant bitrate over variable bitrate. When burning video, choose everything - best. Hope it works for you.

Help with Nero

by nevosho - 1/21/05 7:02 AM In reply to: Camcorder to DVD using Nero by Syeedur

I too have a copy of Nero 6 Burning Utility. I have tried to do this with Nero also. What I found was that if you use the capture wizard you will get poor results. It really helps if you have a mini-dv camcorder that comes with an usb cable so the quality does not drop as much. At the moment I have an old, analog camcorder and the quality sucks! I will be going out in the near future to buy a Canon Elura.

All free software, you will still use NERO to burn.

Just make sure to choose NTSC instead of PAL if you live in the US - where optional in the software.

Also a good site - www.dvdrhelp.com

I have the Nero ultra package and it works great in everything except video capture, editing and burning. I got a real nice AverMedia video capture card and wound up using their software for my DVDs with no problems at all. I have a web page that goes into detail about this.
