Well I just recieved my iAudio 5 and its amazing. I want some decent earbuds or headphones to go along with it though.
I've been looking a lot at the 51 or 71s and they seem pretty good for a realitively inexpensive headphone. Got a few questions though. First is there any advantage to the 71? It seems like everyone just complains about the unusual cord length, so why not just get the 51? Having an extension cord seems like a great idea, but not if neither length is good.
Also, I know the cnet reveiw says they aren't great for running. Can anybody with them say otherwise? I don't see how they wouldn't at least be decent since they are in ear and have different sizes and all..
Also any other comments for yes or no on these is appreciated. Thanks
i have the ex 71....i dont use them to jog because i have a hard drive player.i cant imgaine these things ever falling out.once they are in they stay in.i am very happy with these.i just saw they came out with some new ones.these new ones go over the ear .no way they will fall out
The EX51 and EX71 have the same sound quality and volume. The difference is in the appearance of the ear buds. The cord is more durable on the EX71, and the ear piece of the EX71 is made of a different material which is suppose to be more comfortable. EX51/71 come in both sp and lp style, but the EX51sp does not have an extension cord so you'd better have a remote.
so the ex51 lp does have a remote? The ex51 I was looking had a 4 foot cord, which seems like it'd be long enough for most everything.
do you know what those new sonys are called?
thanks for the info
The EX51 comes in sp and lp versions. The EX51 sp has a short cord with NO remote and NO extension cord. The EX51 lp has a standard 4 foot cord. The EX71 sp has a short cord AND extension cord. The EX71 lp has a standard 4 foot cord.
I have a variant version of the EX51/71, it's called NX1 and as far as I know, they're not yet in North America. These are the necklace type of EX51/71, with the same specs in terms of sound quality. I use them with my Sony NW95 and they are just perfect!
This type of earbuds will not fall out of your ears when you're jogging, as you may know. But these have great sound quality, especially if you want a lot of bass and lows in your music. I wouldn't recommend them for classical music, there are other ones for those highs.
All in all, if you listen to rap, hiphop, pop, or rock, these are great earphones. Just make sure you get the ones with the right cord length. ![]()
Cheers
ok thanks for the help. I haven't seen the ex71s with the longer cord as much...but i think i like just having one 4 foot cord as opposed to the extension stuff. Anyone else have input on this?
i prefer to have the option of extention so i can use the short cord for working out (with mp3 player on my armband) and long cord when i carry in in my pocket.
so it depends on where you're gonna be using your mp3 player..
hope this helps
