Denon 1610/DVD/HDTV setup

I'm new to home theater products and I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out the best way to set up the products I have. My main concern is the receiver setup with the other components.
I have a Denon receiver model 1610, a Klipsch Subwoofer 10 and the Klipsch Quintet III 5.1 surround sound. I have a Samsung HDTV model LN32B650 and a regular Sony dvd player with the standard components at the back (red, white, yellow) and (blue, green, red).
Currently, the person who helped me set up the system did the following:
-RCA (yellow, white, red) cable is connected to Denon receiver and HDTV.
-RCA (yellow, white, red) cable is connected to HDTV and DVD player.
-Cable connects between cable box and HDTV.
I will be getting a HDTV cable box in two days and I hope to get a bluray player around Black Friday. Anyway, I noticed that at the back of the Denon 1610 there are several HDMI slots and I do currently have two HDMI cables. So, I'd appreciate any ideas you guys might have on a better setup to get the best out of this system.

HD Cable box (HDMI out) -> (HDMI in) Denon 1610
Denon 1610 (HDMI out) -> (HDMI in) Samsung HDTV
Sony DVD player (Component R/G/B out) -> (Component R/G/B in) Denon
Sony DVD player (if possible, digital optical or digital coaxial out) -> (digital optical or digital coaxial in) Denon 1610

When the Blu Ray player arrives replace the Sony DVD lines w/ the following:
Blu Ray (HDMI out) -> (HDMI in) Denon 1610
Some people also like to compare the video quality by connecting video signals directly to the HDTV and eliminate the A/V receiver as a middleman, if you will. With HD Cable boxes this can sometimes improve things a little, but YMMV. In this type of setup you want to minimize any sort of red/white/yellow, S-Video and coaxial cable tv cables since they don't provide the best quality. HDMI, digital optical & digital coaxial are what you want to work with in addition to Component RGB. The only CATV cable you want is from the wall to the HD Cable box ideally.
