Bubble Gum on LCD TV

by Brian Sandine - 4/27/09 2:56 PM

One of my kids stuck bubble gum right in the middle of my BRAVIA LCD screen. Arggggg!!! I have safely removed most of it, but there is a bit remaining. I know I can remove it with WD-40, but I don't know how the WD-40 will affect the surface of the screen. I don't want to trade a little bubble gum residue for a larger dull spot. Does anybody know a tested way to remove the gum? Thanks.

Man that sucks, I'd try various types of screen cleaner that is marked to be okay for electronics and screens.

Try Baby oil

Try baby oil.

This also works for the adhesive left behind after pulling off a price sticker.

Bubble Gum on LCD TV.

Peanut Oil--or even peanut butter, in a pinch, is a pretty good gum remover--you can use it to get gum out of a dog's coat, so it should work beautifully on a smoother surface like a TV screen. The peanut oil residue should come off with a few swipes of a microfiber cleaning cloth; if it doesn't, use whatever multi surface cleaning product your
TV manufacturer recommends. If you would rather not use an oil, try freezing the gum with an ice cube or two. With any luck, it will pop right off; again, use the microfiber cloth for any residue, with the manufacturer recommended cleaning product to clean up any stubborn residue or streak that might manage to remain.

Remove the Gum using Scotch Tape

by coralcarl - 5/3/09 8:29 AM In reply to: Bubble Gum on LCD TV by Brian Sandine

It may take a few applications of taping and peeling but it leaves the screen untouched by chemicals.tDuck

Try babywipes

by mjd420nova - 5/3/09 12:15 PM In reply to: Bubble Gum on LCD TV by Brian Sandine

I use the ALOE based babywipes to clean the screen and it works well for any sticky substance that may be present.
