RE: Did anything happen with a class action lawsuit?

by WebMonkey23 - 11/20/08 1:26 PM In reply to: Did anything happen with a class action lawsuit? by Dave Sherman

They fixed the problem after the first generation. And they are not offering any discounts. For one they state that the first generation will display a 1080P signal which is BS. And I don't know why you would even consider buying another mits after all of the problems that they have had and how they have treated their customers. I would buy either a LCD or a plasma much better pic IMO.

Bought a Mitsubishi wd-62525 and it experienced the "blinking lights of death" Mitsubishi authorized repair center told me that Mitsu knew of the capacitor problem and that for a $500.00 dollar repair he and they would replace 16 undersized capacitors anf the set would be fine. I went online and found home repair info and took care of the problem myself, however I am not so sure the repair will last and why I was being forced to pay for repairs to a set that had engineering defects or manufacturing errors.

Mitsubishi WD62725 Chassis Failure

Did a class action ever get started on this issue? Ours has died and we are so very not pleased! Way too much money for something to die within a few years!

Time to buy back my 25 year old Zenith tube TV

by KSoda - 2/1/09 8:25 AM In reply to: Response to Mitsubishi class action lawsuit by harryshulman

I’ve had it with this piece of junk television (Mitsubishi WD-52327), this is the third time, and may I say at the same time of year that the picture fails. If it isn’t the green light lamp failure warning, it’s the red light warning.

After only four months after original purchase in June ’06, the lamp blew, Mitsubishi sent new lamp under warranty, replaced it, it worked fine, then around Christmas, the set would intermittently keep shutting off but would start back up. I noticed a long wait time for picture to start (about 45-60 seconds). Then would be OK for a month, then, do the same thing just in time for Super Bowl ‘07. My GE extended warrantee company sent out a repairman who could not duplicate the condition, the lamps displayed no fault codes; the set decides to work fine again.

Last year it quit just before the 2008 Super Bowl, once again, the picture fails, red and green lights blinking codes, this time it won’t restart. Sent the set out, the technician replaced a faulty light engine and Ballast(?), said the bulb was good. GE said they only replace the lamp on a one time basis (nice of them to “verbally” tell me this now, as it is nowhere mentioned in the brochure and naturally the salesman tells customers the set is covered top to bottom. I get the set back a month later. Seemed great for two, maybe three months, the once or twice it would shut off automatically, but then restart OK.

Here we are again, its Super Bowl time, planned a party… guess what? Yep, dead again, red and green lamps blinking, like before, unplugging and plugging it back in does nothing. Guess what, warranty ran out. Never again Mitsubishi! Never again GE! So much for the Super Bowl.

In such an economic crisis we are in, is it any wonder why big businesses are failing?

Don't write this off so quickly. Meaning I would contact GE warranty service and tell them to replace the TV. There is a federal lemon warranty law called Magnuson Moss Act. If the TV had to be fixed 3 times on the 4th time they have to replace the TV. Throw that federal law into a supervisor or I recommend a managers face. Tell them you have everything documented and the TV should have been replaced already. Also tell them about the warranty and the bulb. That the warranty states no where in it that GE will only cover 1 bulb.

Hello Harry,

Are you an Atty in CA? Can you do class action law suit's in other states or do you have to live in CA to participate in it? There are so many of us across the USA that have purchased these Mitts TV's and have been burned on them so badley. We have lost alot of money on that junk. Can you tell us a bit more about class action law suits and how we go about getting one started?

WD57831

by solvert2 - 6/3/09 4:39 PM In reply to: Response to Mitsubishi class action lawsuit by harryshulman

Hi, I too bought this unit about 2.5 years ago. We bought it from a retailer out of Ontario California, called Leigh Adams. They sold us the unit at a pretty decent price. We were told that we were purchasing the warranty and that it was electronically recorded, and that it would be registered through the receipt. They sold out to Ken Cranes, and then the TV lamp went out.

The lamp went out, we called for service on our warranty, we found out we had no warranty. We paid a visit to the store where we purchased the TV now called Ken Cranes. We were told that there were quite a few people like us that had gotten scammed. We, and many others were sold TV's and service packages. We never got the service packages.

Apparently that money that was assigned to the service package got kicked back to there profit. Well, our WD57831 cost us almost 4k, and we're stuck with a set that we've been buying bulb replacements for every 6 months. I now look at my set at a $5k set, because we were only given one complimentary replacement bulb. Oh, and it just went out again yesterday June 2, 2009.

If there's a suit, I want to be part of it.

Derrick

WD-52631 Air flow problems **possible fix**

by THE_BASHER - 8/19/08 5:07 PM In reply to: i am interested by mpryor12

My Mitsu 52631 has had the "air flow" message as long as I've had it. I've researched this problem a couple of times now, and I've seen several recommendations on online forums, but I've yet to see this solution posted:

On the rear of the TV, there is a small removable panel that has instructions on lamp replacement and disposal. There are two (2) shiny flathead screws, remove them, and pull the lamp cartridge out (it actually has a handle to do so). DO NOT TOUCH THE LENS OF THE LAMP! The oil from fingerprints will decrease the life of the lamp. Once you remove the lamp cartridge, hold it by the handle and examine it. There are three (3) screens/filters on the lamp cartridge, two(2)large screens and one(1) small screen. The small screen is the inlet air filter, mine was completely CLOGGED WITH DUST! I used a toothbrush to brush away the dust and blew the lamp cartridge off with a can of compressed air (the kind for cleaning keyboards), and the TV has worked well since. This fix takes about 15 minutes. I can't guarantee that it will work for everyone, but it worked for me. THEY SHOULD HAVE BUILT IN AN EXTERNAL FILTER THAT COULD BE EASILY CLEANED OR REPLACED! IT SHOULD NOT REQUIRE DISCONNECTING ALL OF YOUR A/V EQUIPMENT TO FREQUENTLY REMOVE AND CLEAN THE LAMP CARTRIDGE!

Re: Repairing your TV

by alfghar - 11/21/07 7:52 AM In reply to: Mitsubishi DLP Television WD-57831 Class Action Lawsuit by jschweikle

Note: As far as ASC's are concerned, they follow what Mitsubishi tells them. If Mitsubishi has no clue, then they do actual troubleshooting.

In Mitsubishi Diamond DLP's, certain problems can have more than one cause, and there is no way to narrow it down.
(A flashing timer light is one of these)
We have experienced massive frustration on the part of our customers with how slow Mitsubishi is with answering our technical support queries, and I wish you luck in your ambitions.

Mitsubishi Class Action Suit

by JimGiblin - 12/6/07 1:18 PM In reply to: Re: Repairing your TV by alfghar

I have a Mitsubishi WD73827 Diamond Series DLP that has been nothing but a nightmare and headache. I get an average of 4 months on the bulb before the replacement notice comes up and now the light engine is gone. I have been waiting over 3 months for a repair. Supposedly the light engine has been on backorder. Why backorder? Because every one of the darn things is broken? I now have a 5 foot by 6 foot black box sitting in my room that is totally useless. Customer service is even more useless since it takes an average of 45 minutes to be told there is no help available. The bulbs go for $230 and the light engine is $1780. After my initial $5000 purchase price I am in for $8000. Run fast, run far, just run away from Mitsubishi products. Please include me in any class action.
