What do you think about buying a refurbished (or "recertified") mp3 player? I see Sansa Clip 2GB for $30 including shipping.
I've bought such things but only if the maker does the refurb. Such as geeks.com has such things.
-> Do not expect free tech support on refurbs.

I looked at Geeks.com but didn't find any indication of where the refurbishing was performed. And is there any difference between refurbishing and recertification?
When I need to ask I found I had to use the phone. So far all the geeks refurbs have been super units. You'll see them list "open box" when it's just a re-pack.

Seeing that for a just under $10 more you can get it new from Amazon.com, I would go for new.

I bought a refurbed Creative Labs Zen Micro (5Gb) from Geek.com several "years" ago. Still works great, keeping in mind that the Zen micro uses a miniature hard drive memory.
I purchased a Sansa e250 refurb almost 2 years ago and it still works great. Think I got it from Buy.com. Also, yu can remove the "refurb" lettering on the back with a little bit of rubbing alcohol or goo-gone.
I bought 2 Sansa 250e's a couple of years ago and they work great. My son was even able to get support/help from the manufacturer when he thought he had killed his changing the software. I'm happy with my player and the $$$$ I saved.
