I am trying to find a camcorder and software that will work with Vista 64 bit processing. I had bought a Panasonic at Best Buy then found out it was not compatible with Vista 64. Are there any out there that will ork with Vista 64 or is there a way around the problem?
Try VLC, it should work.
By "software that will work with Vista 64" I presume you mean software for uploading your video to a computer. I just had that problem myself when my Sony XDR manual gave me that bad news. Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum SE works with 64-bit, and I imagine there are Pinnacle and Ulead programs that do the same. I just bought the Sony software but haven't had time to try it yet. Cost with shipping came to about $88. I doubt you will get away with anything lower priced.
You will find that most NLE'S will work with vista 64 however they may or may not take advantage of a 64 bit system. As far as I know only Sony Vegas 9 ,a professional app.,around $499.00, actually takes advantage of a 64 bit O.S..
The camcorder software that I received with my Panasonic video camera is called VideoCam Suite and it is not compatible with Vista 64 bit. Vista 64, however, has a nice little feature calls "compatibility mode" that lets you run incompatible programs. Simply right click the program icon and select Properties. Then select the Compatibility tab, check Compatibility Mode, and choose an OS from the dropdown list that the program works with. I used Windows XP (SP2) as the compatible OS and can now use the VideoCam software.
