BEWARE of Bestpricecameras.com, they are a complete scam!!!

by jayshee - 11/14/06 3:12 PM

Hi everyone out there. I just wanted to let all of you know of an unbelievably horrible experience I have just encountered with bestpricecameras.com

I had done some research and looked at reviews on CNET, Amazon and a few other sites on a variety of camcorders (both Mini DVD and hard drive models, and I settled on the Sony DCRSR80 model. While I was doing some final research, I came across a link for bestpricecameras.com (from the either the CNET website or the Amazon website, beleive it or not). I clicked on the link, ordered the camera and a "starter kit" with battery, case etc. I received an order confirmation number (this was November 7th), paid for the merchandise AND 2nd day air shipping (because of a need to receive the camcorder and practice with it for a Thanksgiving vacation), and waited. I received no communication for several days, then I called to follow up. I was told that the order was misplaced (but found miraculously after I called)and would be shipped out 2nd day air. I waited again and received no communication or tracking number for the 2nd day air.

Finally, today (November 14, 2006)I called them again to inquire about the camera. After I gave them the order confirmation number, they told me that the order was misplaced. When I spoke to the cutomer service rep and explained my problems with the service, he simply ignored the situation and told me I should order the 8 hour basttery insttead of the 2 hour battery...and that this would cost me $139 extra. I told him that if they would ship the product as promised and wave the 2nd day air charge (because it is now SEVEN days after my order was placed and confirmed with them), he said he would not do that becuase the order would get ther in two days. I then explained again that the order was 7 days late already, so if he waived the 2nd day airr charge, I would agree to the upgraded battery and the additional $135 charge. He called me a "stupid piece of $hit" and said there was no way he would do that. I responed by saying "that is completely unprofessional." He then said he was from Brooklyn, NY (I guess I was supposed to be impressed or scared or something ??) and was "gonna kick my Ohio A$$!"
I could not believe that in this day and age a company can get away with such incredible unprofessional behaviour and even disdain towards their customers.

So after I got off the phone with Bestpricecameras.com, I called my credit card company to "block any transacation" from this company. It turns out they had already billed me on the original date and now I have to go through the painstaking trouble to document and file a fraudulent claims report. It was also suggestd to me by my credit card company the I cancel my card and get a new credit card number.

All this trouble because I wanted to save a lillt money on my camcorder! Nest time I will be much wiser.
I am typically not one to give unsolicited advice and I am certainly not one who normally posts reviews on websites, but I did not want what happened to me to happen again to someone else.....Iwould steer completely clear of this firm if at all possible.

They Have A Reputation

by JimKW - 11/15/06 9:31 AM In reply to: BEWARE of Bestpricecameras.com, they are a complete scam!!! by jayshee

I was ready to order from them, but looked them up at the Better Business Bureau (bbb.org) and said no way. I also found another independent source that reviews online companies and found some really bad writeups about this company. So I said what the heck and called them and said I was looking to buy three or camcorders as gifts for my kids for Xmas. The ones I wanted were listed at $399 each and they said three of them would be around $1800. $400 x 3 = $1200 using most of the math I have learned. They told me I had to buy a battery because the camera does not come with one along with some other stuff. I laughed at the guy and hung up on him.

Bestpricecameras.com Scam artists

by jayshee - 11/16/06 7:18 PM In reply to: They Have A Reputation by JimKW

Thanks for the reply. It's sad that companies like that can still actually attract customers/victims. They called and left me a very hateful message on my voicemail....apparently they saw my review. i just wish I knew of other sites or organizations that I could notify so other unsuspecting folks don't have to go through what we did.

BestPriceCameras SCAM ARTIST

by bigjohn71762 - 2/4/08 12:01 PM In reply to: They Have A Reputation by JimKW

I bought a camera from best price cameras ($450) and didn't here from them in 3 days so I googled their name and learned they are a SCAM...

I tried calling best price scammers and never got through, I was on hold and waited for an hour and then started getting sick because I realized I got ripped off.. So I started praying to Jesus, seriously, I started praying to Jesus...

So I called my bank and they said they couldn't do anything, but the transaction had not went through, so I waited 5 minutes and called my bank and told my bank I lost my debit card. Now the bank said anything with the old number will not go through.. I dont know why the bank didn't this in the first place.. There is no charge for losing and replacing my card but I got a new account number..

I dodged a $450 bullet, Thanks you Jesus

www.BestPriceCameras.com - beware

by edwindjb - 1/8/07 11:43 PM In reply to: BEWARE of Bestpricecameras.com, they are a complete scam!!! by jayshee

Scam artists. Review the Better Business Bureau complaints at http://tinyurl.com/y2hyjc

I ordered a Canon professional series lens and wanted overnight delivery.

2 business days later, a rep from the www.BestPriceCameras.com calls and first thing tries to get me to agree to the inferior Sigma lens. He told me it was just as good, actually better, for the camera I have (Canon Digital Rebel XTi).

I told him it isn't, said I wasn't interested and asked how long it would be until I got the lens I ordered.

He said 3 weeks.

I said that won't do and I want to cancel my order.

He said, "Fine, not a problem." - and hung up on me! No confirmation that the order has been canceled, not a goodbye, sorry we couldn't help you, and all that nice stuff a good company that wants to keep customers does.

I tried to call the number that my Caller ID said called - it was a bad number.

I called the customer service number and talked to a guy there who sounded slightly nicer, but still a weasel. He confirmed who I talked to and that the order had been canceled.

Then I asked to speak to the first guy's manager.

The manager made no apologies. I accused him of bait-and-switch. He had no defense. I told him about the above rudeness. His reply was "That's weird. Chris has been with us for years and we've never got a complaint about him."

It is obvious from 5 minutes of interaction with these people that all they want is to speak to suckers they can pull their stunts on. As soon as they get someone who is on to them, they get rid of them as soon as possible.

Don't! Don't! Don't do business with this company!

ABSOLUTELY FRAUDULENT SELLING PRACTICES Best Price Cameras!

by unc_tarheels - 3/24/07 2:26 PM In reply to: www.BestPriceCameras.com - beware by edwindjb

I bought a Sony Digital camera DSC-T100, advertised for $315, and received an e-mail saying that I needed to call-in to verify the order. When I phoned, a slick, "plaid pants" sales guy got on the phone and proceeded to tell me that the camera did not come with a battery or charger. I thought that was starnge but asked him to include those. When I received the order I looked at the Sony "supplied accessories list," and in fact both of these are standard with the camera. The biggest shock came when I saw the invoice of $698!! There was no detail, just the bottom line. All attempts to contact and resolve this with the company have been futile.

Unfortunately for this company however, they messed with the wrong person. There will soon be criminal complaints filed and I guarantee that they will be shut down soon; never to rip off another person.

I was about to order a camcorder from best price cameras and was surprised the store wasn't listed by many websites in the price comparision. I thought of checking for some reviews and found this. Thanks for the information and you saved me.

Bestpricecameras-Buyer Stay Away

by dowtrdr - 4/12/07 5:25 PM In reply to: Best price cameras by postmailgmail

I ordered a camcorder from them yesterday and I immediately got suspicious when I tried to reach them on their 800 lines. I either got cutoff or placed on perma-hold. After checking on Google I discovered a website that rated companies and they had over 300 complaints. I have to admit that I was attracted and baited by their low price offering on the camera. I would like to place some of the blame with CNET for allowing them to be a sponsored link to their website. I did a search on their address at McDonald Ave/St in Brroklyn. They have done and are currently business under several other names including J and K Camera etc.... BEFORE you order check to make sure they are legit. Bottom line I called my credit card company and cancelled my card. A minor inconvience but they did not have time to bill me. I am still in the process of finding a legit dealer and I might just bite the bullet and make the purchase directly with sony.

BestPricesCameras are liars & thieves!

by kwdesigns - 10/27/07 3:40 PM In reply to: Bestpricecameras-Buyer Stay Away by dowtrdr

I placed an order online Oct.15th for a Nikon D40 & a 512 memory card, which totaled $398.99. I received an email Oct.17 from Chris at Best Price Cameras (chris@bestpricecameras.com) requesting a call to confirm my order.

I added additional items to my pending order & he hastily gave me a new total. I questioned the new amount - which was $592. There were additional fees I didn't agree to & I explicitly canceled the order at that time. Chris became very hostile and rude, stating that I could not cancel the order & I would be charged for the order (the order had not been processed yet). I replied by stating I am not authorizing this transaction or charge to my credit card. Again, he was rude and hostile and stated that I would be charged for the amount.

He did charge the full amount of $592 to my credit charge, which posted on Oct.17. A charge I did not authorize. I have contacted my bank to report this fraudulent charge. I contacted Chris directly about this matter today, Oct.23, to inquire why he proceeded with the transaction when I clearly stated I did not authorize this order. He responded by stating he did not "know about this", "it wasn't him". BestPricesCameras & their employees are liars & thieves. I almost bought from bestpricecameras.com until I looked them up here. Then I almost did the same thing when I almost bought from razzphoto.com. The sites looked so much the same that I had to digg a little bit more. Take a look...

Looks like they setup razzphoto in August to try and capture more unsuspecting people.

regarding razzphoto

by digheapyahoo.com - 11/14/07 4:05 PM In reply to: wow, thankya everyone.. I guess I dodged a bullet. by wlarsen76

thanks guys....i was tempted to place an order for Nikon D80 which is around $800+ in most sites that all of us are familiar with.
On razzphoto, the same camera is for under $500.
Now since I know, i will not place an order. by simply changing the name, they cannot hide the realilty.
Also look at the hundreds of reviews on razzphoto, they are all good and 95% of them are one liners...not even complete sentences. could they have themselves written them and may be in hurry to be so short....

thanks a ton!!!

Anyone heard about "BargainShoppinZone.com" , Is this another scam company as BestPricesCameras.com???

Thank you - another person that avoided a scam!

by jcallan2000 - 2/16/08 7:08 PM In reply to: BEWARE of Bestpricecameras.com, they are a complete scam!!! by jayshee

I was shopping for a Canon HV20 camera to take some videos of my new son and came across the Razzphoto.com site. These prices seemed too true ($319 vs recommened $999) to believe so I came back to trusty CNET and came across this posting. Thank you for sharing your unfortunate experiences - you truly have helped me out of being scamed.

SCAM SCAM SCAM

by klindsey82 - 2/26/08 6:45 PM In reply to: BEWARE of Bestpricecameras.com, they are a complete scam!!! by jayshee

totally angry that I almost got taken. Why is razzphoto listed as a reputable site when googling it? CNET as well as pricegrabber both spam this con artist. SO so angry that they are listed as a reputable seller. Pretty absurd.

Luckily, they tryed to WAYYYY overcharge me, and my debit card has a limit of 500$ on it :) So they got denied! DENIED!!!!!!!!!!!! I am calling my bank to cancel my card in the morning. Minor inconvenience for the validation I have knowing that they could have had my $450 but their awful customer service and greedy representatives were their own downfall in my case.

I went ahead and ordered from buydig.com. I still can't belive that with all the complaints with the BBB that this company is still running...
