Having such pretty subjects should make your photo sessions a joy.
Shooting with such as shallow depth of field must keep you on your toes.
Enjoyed the photos.

I am so happy with the results I get from the Nikon D40. The kit lens, and budget friendly Nikon 55-200mm AF-S lens are stellar performers. Here are flower macros taken with the Nikon D40 and the 55-200mm lens. I also used a Nikon 3t close-up diopter with the 55-200mm on some shots to get in closer and get a very shallow depth of field. Wonderful results!

an interesting method of protecting your images.
I have not seen that done before.
Not too intrusive but effective.

Beautiful!
Nice shooting ! Nikon DSLR camera always shows the extreme contrast and colorful lighting which I eventually like for macro and landscape photography.
Those pictures are awesome, what kind of lense do you use. How did you manage to make your pictures softer, i really enjoy taking pictures of orchids. Do you edit your photos?
I really enjoyed looking at those photos of the flowers.
But such a shallow depth of field that makes a very creative and softer and smooth feels to the flowers. I wouldnt approve of so much saturation and gamut because it tends to leave photos ver undetailed and bland, whereas if you keeps it toned down a little bit the photo becomes curious and interesting to look at.
I being a flower and nature photographer myself is looking for a macro lens. I have used a few of my friends macro lenses and it seriously is like looking into another world, it some how makes your focused subjest looks big and your prefferably background look so tiny. Great photos though. I have a nikon d40 and it come with the kit lens.

-Aidan,
Thanks for your reply. I do not have a digital Nikon. Only a Canon SD500. Most of my Canon shots are pretty good. Not as superior to my 35mm Nikon.
Depth of field I like to play around with. I do happen to loose the detail of the background and concentrate on the detail of the flower.
You are right about loosing the size comparison unless shooting some other flower along with it, such as Baby's Breath. Seems that flower goes well with anything that you photograph. Unobtrusive and adds a softness to the photo. That way you can judge how large the main flower is that you photograph.
I am glad to see that you choose flowers and the challenge associated with it. I like to shoot on a foggy or hazy day early in the morning. noon-time is bad for me. Mid-afternoon the flower often is cooked by the sun in summer and not worth it to photograph at all.
I wish that I took this photo. Not sure who did. Wonderful photo and a once in a life-time opportunity. Wild! I congratulate this photographer.

Here are Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta photos shot with the Canon Rebel XT & kit lens. At the time I purchased the Rebel XT, I was using a Samsung GX-1L (same as the Pentax *ist DL) DSLR, that I was not happy with. The Canon produces punchy, noise free images. The kit lens can yield respectable photos if you always stop it down to f8. They only complaint I had about the Canon (call me vain) was the cheap look and feel of the body. For $700 I wanted a more professional handling camera.
