Will any monitor work with a mac mini??
Yes, with a small qualification, you may need a DVI to standard monitor adapter ( about $20 ).
The video output of the Mac Mini is via a standard DVI connection.
So as not to limit your choice of monitor, Apple includes a DVI to VGA adapter with every new Mac Mini.
Therefore you can use any monitor with a Mac Mini as long as your monitor has either a DVI or VGA connector on it.
DVI to DVI will give you the best results but VGA on a decent monitor is not to be sniffed at.

When I got my Mac Mini and tried to set it up, I was surprised to find there was no way to connect my Apple Studio Monitor. I thought it was me - Apple couldn't include connection to PC monitor but no way to connect an Apple monitor - or could they? I called Apple and was told I needed a DIV to ADC Adapter which would cost me $100. Of course that would defeat the whole purpose of getting Mini as cheap upgrade solution so I told them I would return Mini. And they told me they would send me the adapter at no charge. I was delighted with solution and am delighted with my Mini. But I still can't believe Apple would make and sell Mini that doesn't connect to their own Apple monitors.
suffered from having a very proprietary connector that, while being a very neat way to attach a monitor to a computer, did not catch on with Video card/Monitor manufacturers.
Apple stopped producing them a long time ago, although they are still available on the Used market. Apple monitors now come with DVI connectors.
I have a 17" ADC monitor but I could only purchase a VGA/DVI graphics card for my G4 (Sawtooth)
ADC cards were available, places like eBay, but for a very high price.
I ended up purchasing a Dr. Bot DVI to ADC convertor in order to be able to use the monitor.
I can see your frustration, but the Mac Mini was designed to fit current monitors and not to support legacy devices. Notice your Apple keyboard (ADB) does not fit either. ![]()
I note that printer manufacturers have started to leave off the Parallel Ports on their printers.
What was it that Apple sent you?
