Problem with Logitech optical mouse

by alewie - 11/4/09 6:29 AM

I have used for a few years a Logitech optical mouse model M-BT96a, connected to a UBS hub. My operating system is Windows XP. I often go through periods where the mouse malfunctions. The two problems are related to the left button. The first is that it assumes that I have clicked twice even when I click once. The consequence is that, for example, it oftens deletes more than one message in my inbox, instead of just the one selected. The second problem is that it becomes very difficult to select text for being edited, as it frequently does not hold the selection. I have tried using the mouse in a different port but it did not solve the problem. Has anyone been able to solve this type of problem? Thanks.

I tossed it. It was too annoying and while I knew if I could find a similar mouse to donate its switch it might fix it the time and effort required was not worth it to me.

I didn't discuss mouse settings in the control panel. Most know about that.
