Printer suggestions for 80 lb paper?

by houdini042 - 10/3/08 2:03 PM

Anyone out there have any suggestions for a printer that will print on 80 lb cardstock? We've tried the HP 2015, 4250, and 4015, and all either don't fuse properly or ghost print. At our wits end.

The exact paper specs are 80 lb mohawk 50/10 ultra matte.

Kinko's prints on this stock for us now, and they run it through their color printer. Maybe a color printer would be a good fix?

What a local discovered.

The cost of such a printer would never be recovered in over 5 years. So they continue to use local printers for the stock they can't print on. Again in other words, the price of such a printer may be more than what the market will bear.

80 lb paper printer suggestion

I am not familiar with Mohawk 50/10 ultra matte card stock. I have used 80 lb card stock from Paper Direct (www.paperdirect.com) with my Epson Stylus Photo R200 printer with good results. The card stock that I use is 100% recycled content 'Earth Tones' cover. I use it for printing holiday cards. Printers with a 'straight through' paper feed works the best with heavy paper. The card stock you are using may be the problem. Ink jet printers need some porosity in the paper for the ink to adhere properly.
