Network with XP Pro netbook and Vista Home Premium laptop

by djchapple - 11/7/09 9:41 AM

I have an Advent 4211 running XP Pro and an Acer Aspire 5920g running Vista Home Premium.

The Acer can see both computers on the LAN and access content from both however though the Advent can see the Acer it cannot communicate with it.

When I try to do so I am asked to enter a username and password.

I cannot see which computer is demanding the username/password nor how to remove it.

Also as the netbook does not have a DVD burner I would like to use the Acer burner to load programs onto the Advent. How do I go about setting up the necessary sharing permissions?

So did you set up the users or not?

When you get that user name prompt that's a sign the accounts are not set up across the machines. Correct that first.
