Desktop and monitor carrying set-up

by nativetarheel - 11/6/09 10:52 AM

Hi all,

I am trying to find a carrying assembly for a desktop PC and monitor. I saw something at the local TimeWarner office, that mounts a small PC and and monitor on a framework. The PC is mounted on one side, the monitor is on the other, and a handle sticks up from the middle of the assembly. You can pick the whole thing up and carry it. The reps had no idea where they got them, and I couldn't find any brand name. Does anyone know where I can get something like this? It would be perfect for carrying my desktop and monitor into locations, set it down, plug it up, and get to work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

laptop or netbook?

Why don't you just get a laptop? Or you can get a netbook if you're just doing some word processing and some basic internet activities (email, blog, etc.)

A notebook won't cut it.

I run DJ and Karaoke, and need a 1 terabyte drive, as well as a 500 Gig drive. Carrying around and hooking up an external USB drive is just as much of a pain as carrying a desktop.

Notebook cooling fans are noisier and don't cool as well when you are stuck in a corner of a bar with bad A/C during the summer.

It's easy to replace something like the earphone plug in a desktop.

Desktops have more room to slap in extra hardware.

It's easier to swap out monitors if one is damaged or quits working.

Getting what I need is a whoooole lot cheaper in a desktop.

Thanks for the suggestion, but for those and other reasons, a desktop is just better for my business.

I needed such a thing.

After years I finally think I have this nailed. I'm carrying around a netbook for my presentations. Our software must run on older machines so a netbook is more than what 4 year old machines are usually made of.

Cheap and working well for the task.
