I have MS Office Outlook 2007 on my previous laptop. I am trying to transfer e-mails and respective attachments (from the 'archives','in-box', 'sent items' etc.), the 'outlook contacts', the 'calender' etc to a current laptop that also has MS Office Outlook 2007. What is the best and easiest of ways to execute this?
Secondly, is there a way I can rather archive my e-mails in an external hard drive and still be able to access them (as I would when they are on my laptop) when need arises?
Transfering:
I'd copy the .pst file and some other files as described in
http://www.sitedeveloper.ws/tutorials/outlook.htm
A Microsoft somebody says export (and import) in http://www.microsoft.com/athome/moredone/backupdata.mspx
Your choice, more or less.
Archiving:
Yes, I think you can make another personal pst file on another drive and move messages to it. But probably you'll get an error message (like: inaccessible, or can't open) if you start Outlook while the external drive is disconnected. But it might very well work with what's left.
And, please, please, remember that data on an external drive is prone to being lost. They are far less reliable than on an internal drive. So be sure to have a good backup (burning to DVD for example).

Hi,
Using Outlook, go to File, New, Outlook Data File, then a pop-upp will appear asking whether you want to create an "Office Outlook Personal Folders File (.pst)" or "Outlook 97 - 2002 Personal Folders File (.pst)". Choice is yours, the end result is the same. Then you create the personal folder in a location that is easy for you to locate, and you copy all your mails to the personal folder, and copy the personal folder.pst file from your laptop to your another laptop and open it up in a similar manner, using File, Open, Outlook Data File and point to the location where the personal folder file is.
