Uninstalling IE 8 Beta from Vista?

by online71074 - 1/8/09 8:34 PM

Apparently, Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 is causing some installation problems for an HP printer software. So now I need to uninstall IE 8 beta and install IE 7 again. Any idea how to do this?

Look under Windows Update...

In the left-hand column you'll see an option to view installed updates, from which you may uninstall IE8.

Hope this helps,
John

IE 8 Uninstall

I too had problems with IE 8, especially with my HP Digital camera. No matter what it will not work correctly and HP has no solutions to it. To uninstall IE 8, go to control panel, open programs and features. When you see Microsoft Windows Explorer 8 click on it and follow the instructions. Once removed IE 7 will fall in behind it. If you do not see Explorer 8 listed then you will have to do a full restore, this happens on some computers.

There is no need to reinstall IE7, BTW,

it will still be there when you uninstall IE8 Beta.

FYI

Having problems with IE7? Install IE8 Beta and then remove it immediately. This has fixed the many many problems I've had with IE7. Had to do this again just yesterday. IE7 lasts about 6 weeks then has to be repaired again using this method. My best guess is .... this is because as web sites prepare there web pages for the release of IE8 they are causing issues for IE7. This is a serious problem.

IE8 still is not ready for "prime time". If it is released soon I'd "strongly" suggest avoiding it. I believe at this point I've had it installed on my PC more then 5 times. None of these installations lasted more then thirty minutes before serious problems became apparent.

This thread untracked.

Windows XP ships with IE6 while Vista ships with IE7. Internet Explorer 8 is still in beta, available only to those who explicitly download/install it. To verify which you have just launch IE and go Help->About Internet Explorer.
