Graphics Problem With XP Dual Boot

by UGunit89 - 9/7/07 8:40 PM

I managed to dual boot xp and vista(vista preinstalled). It works perfectly except that there is something wrong with the graphics on xp side of the boot. It is kind of laggy and choppy when moving windows, scrolling down pages, etc.
It probably has something to do with the video drivers but I'm not sure how/ to install or where to find them. Every time I try to install ati's video drivers it says something like hardware not found.

On Vista in the system information the Display settings shows
Name ATI Radeon X1200 plus alot of other information

In XP it doesn't show anything. Also my vga driver seems to be malfunctioning in XP.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A215-S4747 laptop if that helps and ask for any other information that might help.

Thx.

You've got two giant clues to help you there... One, you know it's an ATI video card, and two, you know it's a Toshiba Satellite A215-S4747... So if you stopped to think for a second... Where might be some places to look for drivers to an ATI video card inside a Toshiba system?

I have the Toshiba Satellite A215-S4807 and installed XP....I wanted the driver for the ATI vid card that's installed, but couldn't find it, until I went to this site...follow the instructions to the T and you'll have the driver installed :)

also, how'd you manage to dual boot your preinstalled vista w/ XP, I'm having a hard time figuring it out.

Thanks a lot but I found some of those drivers on some other site but this tool seems more efficient. I followed this guide to dual boot xp and vista http://www.pro-networks.org/forum/about88231.html. But I had to copy over my boot.ini file, my NTDETECT and ntdlr files from the vista hard disk to the xp hard disk.
Good Luck

thx :) I did eventually manage to find out about Vista Boot Pro. I also had to modify my boot.ini and copy over ntdetect.com and ntdlr files...VBP works great!
