We have been traveling out of the country about twice a year now & found our son's PDa a really valuable tool. Unfortunately, it does not have the ability to access the internet which is something I found would be a niceability to have since many of the places we stay have free internet access. Can someone suggest a PDA that can access the internet like a regular PC (I presume land line), and holds info such as maps & files? Wouldn't mind an older model if I can save some money. Thanks

The PDA does not access the web like a PC. It fails on rich sites like myspace and others. This is not a flaw but what we give up for small devices. The units also have wifi plus bluetooth. If you did want to use dialup I suggest a bluetooth modem.
A problem with maps and files is since it's not a PC we have to find programs to access such things.

These older pocket pc's will do it if you don't mind messing around with HPC 2000 a version of the WINCE operating system.
I have two I purchased on ebay and use them with an inexpensive WiFi card and a dial-up connection (although I have had trouble lately dialing Earthlink...I think they changed something).
