Hello, I'd like to know if there is a good free zip file utility. Freeware, opensource, etc. that works well.
Winzip is fine, but I don't want to have to pay to get the latest version. Thanks.
It is free, open, and handles mostly what WinZip has. Download it from here or 7zip.org
Awesome, downloaded it and it works great! Much better compression than winzip.
Read about them, and others, here:

for our dear Macintosh users? I am not one but I help some people locally around me so its just good to know. If any admin feels I'm hijacking the thread, freely delete my post.
For Linux, File Roller and Arc work well but prefer File Roller
Sure, just Google: compression tools mac
Right at the top, I see a listing for FREE tools, as well.
I personally have used UnArchiver and iArchiver. The UnArchiver was acting very oddly over some files so I used my back iArchiver. Since then iArchiver has become my default. I also recently downloaded MacPardeLux as my new back up but haven' used it yet.
beautiful kisses
