I am looking for a freeware (or shareware) program that will allow me to backup my "My Documents" folders and selected other folders onto a thumb drive...then allow me to go back, in say a week, and backup only those files that have been added or modified. Does anyone know of a program that will do that easily?
Casey
SyncToy is the simplest, easiest-to-use freeware solution I've encountered. It doesn't create a ZIP archive, but rather just duplicates the folder layout you currently have. After the first setup you can run subsequent backups with two or three clicks. It's up to you whether you want everything to be backed up, just changed files, if you want deleted files to be deleted from your backup as well, etc. Quite the nice powertoy from Microsoft, which works with both XP and Vista.
Hope this helps,
John
Why? Not all of office machines runs XP. So we use this.
I have been using this command line utility in Vista to sync my media library to an external drive.

Going to take a look at SyncToy.
I recommend the free, open source, Replicator program at karenware.com.
