But I'm not supplying a link. It's mildly advanced and if you can't find it then that's a sign it's not for you. It does use a command line but the last time I used it the command was all of three words.

Personally...I use Ghost 2003 and have also tried Drive Image and Acronis. When Ghost no longer works ... I'll look more seriously at Acronis. The advantage of a commercial product is tech support and a wider base of users who could might help in a pinch.

Acronis True Image is free yes free IF you have a Seagate or Maxtor hard drive. Yes it is free and yes it works. It is named Seagate Disk Wizard

A word of caution

by VAPCMD - 3/8/08 8:28 AM In reply to: thank you by khmer2rulz

It may be true that DiskWizard is written by Acronis but if you need support ... you'll have to get it from Seagate.

Ghost and True Image do much more than DiskWizard. DiskWizard only copies one drive to another drive...not a partition to a drive or to a compressed image, or from a compressed image to a drive or partition. In other words . . Ghost and TrueImage have use and functionality far beyond initially imaging a drive to another drive.

Hope this helps.

Check out the free DriveImage XML

by awjester - 3/9/08 6:05 PM In reply to: free hard drive imaging software? by khmer2rulz

The free DriveImage XML software at http://www.runtime.org/dixml.htm has been found to be very good. Not all the features of Ghost or Acronis but still very good. I have bought both Acronis True Image 11 Home and Ghost 2003 and both are also very good. Ghost 2003 is very good at copying partitions if you want test partition of your main XP parition.
