Spyware Doctor Problems June 06

by TronDocMD - 6/16/06 9:13 AM In reply to: Spyware Doctor nor Registry Mechanic Updates by tek1959

I've updated twice in last few weeks.

Suddenly got messages saying Spyware Doctor has a problem and has to close. Made the mistake of updating the thing. Computer locked up.

reformatted, reinstalled XP Home.

Last program I re-installed - after testing everything was working OK - was spyware doctor. Computer locks up. Started in safe mode. Uninstalled SD. Computer works OK.

Wouldn't buy it again.

Spyware Doctor

by Grey - 7/25/06 11:17 AM In reply to: Spyware Doctor Problems June 06 by TronDocMD

I purchased and installed SD April 2006. I had no problems or conflicts with any other software.
I found SD identifies Trojans and spywares that Ad-Aware, Spybot or SpySweeper miss.
The only negative that I find has to do with the amount of time that it takes to load (I have it to start on boot). After it comes up, it goes to find if there are any updates and 90% of the time finds updates, so it goes for another couple of minutes and then stops and then restarts itself, adding another couple of minutes. Then... if one of the updates require reboot, you imagine going through the restart all over again. If you are in a rush to get on the system, you may wait for ten minutes to have the system ready to use.
But in all sincerity, other than this startup negative, I am pleased that I decided to buy it.
By the way, I also use BitDefender 9, SpySweeper 5, ZoneAlarm and manually I use Ad-Aware, SpyBot.

Update on my spyware protection

by Grey - 8/15/06 2:02 PM In reply to: Spyware Doctor by Grey

I just realized that my profile shows that I use Webroot SpySweeper.
After installing their version 5, I had so many problems with conflicts with other software and the lack of response to correct their problems, I removed SpySweeper and I could not be happier.
My system is no longer sluggish, I do not have conflicts with others and my Spyware Doctor is catching most of the spywares if not all.
I will change my profile to skip SpySweeper. I am a happy camper.

SPYWARE DOCTOR

by brandyandmarc - 1/3/09 12:30 PM In reply to: Spyware Doctor Guilty of MALPRACTICE!! by beem

I am having the same problem with spyware doctor. It has completely corrupted my system. I didn't even download the program, I was simply doing some research about the product and it suddenly started loading into my computer!!! Now I can't get rid of it!! I have tried to completely remove it from my computer and everything just freezes! My laptop is virtually useless now!!! I don't know what to do. This is complete and utter malpractice. All of these recommendations for this program should be systematically removed from the internet and anyone recommending it should be ashamed of themselves!!
This is going to cost me a fortune to get fixed!!
