Software firewalls for Windows 7 64 bit
by thomas0085 - 10/8/09 11:55 AMI'm running Windows 7 Pro 64bit on my laptop and I was wondering what my options are for freeware firewalls. I was reading in the COMODO forums that CIS currently doesn't filter IPv6 packets, and IPv6 is obviously enabled by default in Windows 7 so I don't really wan,t to use CIS. I know that PC Tools Firewall Plus claims to be compatible with Windows 7 64 bit, what else is there?

And although I haven't used the 64 bit version, I believe it should now be much more configurable from within the Control Panel applet, so you can now configure blocks on outbound traffic as well as inbound.

Otherwise the Windows 7 firewall should be perfectly alright. If Windows 7's firewall doesn't filter IPv6 packets, then probably nothing in Windows 7 is listening for IPv6 connections anyway.
