Another False Positive that is being reported everywhere:
C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\flash\flashutil10a.exe
Reported as Trojan Horse PSW.Generic6.AQPD
It also blocks valid ex-Adobe flash installers.
Either add to the exclusion list (AVG > Tools > Advanced Settings > Resident Shield > Exceptions > Add Path) or do nothing until a new update corrects the problem.

And a WARNING: I just went to Google to see what "flashutil10a.exe" is. One of the Google results pointed to a website "veryrecent.com". Clicking on that link (or a link on that site) promptly downloaded a virus to my PC. Best to stay away from that one!

this at another one of my forums. AVG just issued a second update for today which MIGHT have fixed the problem. The newest one is AVG - AVI: 270.9.3 /1788.

Noted.
Thank you.

Have read your and Roddy's posts on AVG.
I have new laptop. Would you (both) now recommend free AVG or is there is a better choice?j
Thanks.

avast which is also free but that is just my opinion.

I have used both and found too many issues with AVG 8. Your choice but I much prefer Avast. No issues up to now after a few months. Avast updates are a snap and frequent. ![]()

thanks for your recommendation. will def. consider but still open to further opinions.
for 2 years plus with no problems. Particularly impressed with update speeds.
Recently changed to Avira (just because of CNet recommendation) to justify if it was "the N° 1 AV freebie. Too early to say, although it did find 2 traces of an old virus that I thought I had killed some time ago.
Moral of the story is... Avast performs very well, but then Avira doing ok as well.
PS: Didn't like AVG - too top heavy for me - like to keep things simple.
