The registry Backup hung for me too but

by roddy32 Moderator - 6/1/05 2:13 PM In reply to: responding to my response to your two responses. by dawillie

it finally completed. I don't even know why I clicked yes on that anyway because I have ERUNT set to backup the registry every time I reboot.

Donna, followed your instructions exactly...

With the exception of the NOTE under #5. SD Helper and Tea Timer enabled and everything went "smooth as silk" :D. After updating the first check found no problems.

Thanks for the post and good instructions. ;)

Ignore Products!! What an eye opener!

by glenn30 - 6/1/05 11:18 AM In reply to: You're welcome Glenn! There's another instructions.... by Donna Buenaventura Moderator

I found the following checked to be ignored:

C Dilla
New.Net
SideStep

All three now unchecked and scan in progress as I write.

Thanks again, Donna! :)

They are set by DEFAULT

Just a quick heads up that in Settings - Ignore products - All products, the following three entries are checked by default and may well be best unchecked.

CDilla
SideStep
New.Net

You're welcome again Glenn! :D

Always review the list each time an update is released/installed. If you'll find "checked" products, simply uncheck them again. This way Spybot S&D will lookup for it when you run a scan.

Hi Donna....

by Ken Deyell - 6/1/05 1:12 PM In reply to: Before installing Spybot S&D 1.4.. by Donna Buenaventura Moderator

everything worked well for me following your instructions, but one question: with my previous Ver.1.3 it would take 4-5min to run a scan,my first scan with 1.4 took a couple of seconds.Result showing "congratulations no threats found".I question if the "scan" was actually carried out.My OS W98S
p.s. I did an "update" before running the scan

Post 24 of 53

It did that for me too Ken and

by roddy32 Moderator - 6/1/05 1:16 PM In reply to: Hi Donna.... by Ken Deyell

I closed the program and reopened it and it did a normal scan the second time. It was still faster than the 1.3 version but a lot longer than a couple of seconds like the first scan ran.

Same here Roddy - 1st scan 2 secs ...

by Jake Barnes - 6/1/05 1:27 PM In reply to: It did that for me too Ken and by roddy32 Moderator

the 2nd scan, after reboot was "normal" - I wouldn't trust that 1st "quicky" scan!

Post 26 of 53

(NT) Yeah, same here but I don't trust "quickies" ;) lol

I didn't think it was right either but

by roddy32 Moderator - 6/1/05 1:42 PM In reply to: Same here Roddy - 1st scan 2 secs ... by Jake Barnes

it is working fine now. I tried it 3 or 4 times and it only did the quicky. That was when I decided to close it and then open it again and I've tried that 3 or 4 times and it did the complete scan every time then. :D

Quick?

by Donna Buenaventura Moderator - 6/1/05 1:47 PM In reply to: I didn't think it was right either but by roddy32 Moderator

Not a quick scan here. Maybe because After installing I closed it earlier without scanning. I have to write the 2nd guideline (after installing Spybot S&D) that's why I didn't run a scan at once.

I guess, the guide should have "close then re-open Spybot S&D" before running a scan :D

BTW, the result is not clean system LOL

by Donna Buenaventura Moderator - 6/1/05 1:49 PM In reply to: Quick? by Donna Buenaventura Moderator

It found 2 items (red). I'm on my way to find out if it's false positives or not before I allow it to clean.
