Getting a USB mic to just play the input out of the speakers

by mystic_eye_cda - 4/29/09 8:08 AM

I have a USB mic for rockband so it didn't come with any software. However since the game takes and USB mic I figure the rockband mic must use some sort of standard protocol. However the xbox currently has the red light of doom so its going back to the shop.

For awhile now I've been thinking of getting a USB mic so my son can sing along with his youtube videos as he currently uses his v-tech mic to sing along with his computer. The problem is that the vtech plays through the TV so then no one else can use the TV plus there's a mic cable tripping people from the TV to the computer.

I'm sure there must be a simple way to take he mic input and just play it out of the speakers but my husband keeps insisting there isn't and he *should* know as he's an audio engineer for a living. But I can't be the only person who just wants a mic to play out of the speakers, possibly with a separate volume control and possible with an echo/reverb effect.

Its an old 700MHz eMac running 10.4.11 with 1GB ram.

Audio Output

Try LineIn. It's a small application that can redirect any input audio stream to any output audio device. It doesn't have many configuration options though. Also, you'll have to watch out for feedback if the mic is too close to the speakers.

That works plus now that I know what that feature is called I found a better one, but the site to download its not working (Playthrough FX)

LineIn gets the job done though!
