iTunes?

iTunes has a limited selection of internet radio channels, but that's not what you're looking for I take it. If this particular radio station does not offer some sort of internet broadcast, then you may be out of luck. I know that several internet radio services, some free and others not, will stream local channels, but again, the network needs to have an internet broadcast setup. Hit Google and check them out.

If this radio network does not have an internet station, you will need an FM tuner of sorts, which your MacBook does not have inside. You'd have to get an external module.

Here is one I have seen mentioned by a few people here and there:

Have fun with it. ;) Hope this helps.

FM Radio Station doesn't support Mac Products?

by bobberqwerty - 9/25/08 6:11 PM In reply to: Download Application for Streaming Audio (MacBook OS X) by Weswing

If the FM Radio Station doesn't support Mac Products, then a Third (3rd) Party Application is your only choice. Google or Cnet Search for Mac Audio Streaming Applications.

Try iTunes to see if it will accommodate the FM Station(s) of interest, otherwise Search for a Mac compatible Audio Streaming Application.

I assume that you have an FM station in mind

how about you share who it is with us and then, possibly, we could sort you out with a method of listening to them.

There are a number of ways that a radio station can stream their broadcasts and those methods are usually mentioned on their site.

The FM Station is...

by Weswing - 9/25/08 6:20 PM In reply to: I assume that you have an FM station in mind by mrmacfixit Moderator

The station is not on iTunes. The web address is-

www.1071thepeak.com

And the call number for the station is

107.1 WXPK
It's out of White Plains, NY

They have a windows media player for Mac option, but I tried to download it, and it won't open.

Thanks for all of your help so far.

That station

states that support of Mac is in Beta testing and that you should download Windows Media player for Mac.
This software is no longer in production but you could try going to the Flip4Mac website and downloading the FREE wmv player.
This is distributed by Microsoft so don't be alarmed if the link takes you to an MS site.

It adds certain codecs to QuickTime which enables QT to play WMV files.

You can find the downloads Here

Let us know how you get on
