Taskbar has moved to side of screen.

by ekp62 - 1/9/09 9:09 AM

Hello ~
Last night, my taskbar decided to move from the bottom of the screen to the right side. It looks like a top-to-bottom column over there.

I've been over and over "taskbar properties", "display", "appearance", "customize desktop" etc, but cannot find any place to tell the taskbar to get itself back to the bottom of the screen.

Clicking and dragging does nothing to help. It lets me make the taskbar wider and shorter, but won't put it where it belongs.

I can ususally figure out most wierd things, but this has me stumped. If I did something to cause this, I have no idea what it was. It was as if the taskbar suddenly jumped up and over!

I am running Windows XP Home Edition on and HP Pavilion.

Thanks in advance for any ideas,
Elaine

Clicking a dragging?

Don't click it when the arrows show up, click the bar itself, then drag.

: Clicking a dragging?

by ekp62 - 1/9/09 10:12 AM In reply to: Clicking a dragging? by Coryphaeus

Hi, Coryphaeus ~
I'm sorry, I see now that I was talking about two different things as if they are the same. I really do know the difference between "clicking and dragging" and "resizing with the arrows", but my post didn't make that clear. Sorry for the confusion!

Truly though, clicking and dragging does nothing to get the taskbar back to the bottom.

I'm running virus scan right now because a few other small things are acting oddly. If that yields nothing, I'm going to try system restore.

Thanks,
Elaine

Elaine, First right click the Taskbar and unlock it then follow the instructions and video at the link below.

Oh my gosh! Tufenuf, thanks for the link! That was so quick and easy that I literally gasped when the taskbar fell into place!

Thanks soooooooooo much,
Elaine

Hi, Coryphaeus ~
It wasn't locked before, but it certainly is now, now that it's back where it belongs!

i had that happen to me while i was cleaning my key board.
and the only way i was able to get it back to the bottom was to use the system restore.
