I have recently started transferring my files to encrypted drives and folders. Curious if anyone has done benchmarking with regard to 2 issues.
First is impact on performance with high disk I/O applications. How much slower might I expect applications to run?
Second does it increase or decrease amount of disk space used by any significant amount?
And not to dig up any numbers but the Windows supplied EFS (which I find many to never backup!) and the NTFS compression did not add any significant time to the application run time.
Not to write more than the following. The compression time was handily paid back with less to write to the hard disk. Zero sum result!
