Nobel winners back Kerry, say Bush ignores science.
Democrat John Kerry picked up the endorsement Monday of 48 Nobel Prize-winning scientists who attacked President Bush for "compromising our future" by shortchanging scientific research. "The Bush administration has ignored unbiased scientific advice in the policy-making that is so important to our collective welfare, siad the 48 scientists, who have won Nobels in chemistry, physics and medicine dating back to 1967.

And if you want to do something about restoring scientific integrity in the public arena (besides voting for Kerry!), sign the petition sponsored by the Union of Concerned Scientists.

And I'm sure that those 48 speak for all the Nobelists. For every one Kerry finds, Bush could find one of his own. And as for the Union of Concerned Scientists, it has a history of using "junk science" to scare/coerce/force companies to comply with its positions.
Hi, DR.
"Junk science" according to the right is "any science that doesn't agree with the conservative agenda," so your slam against a highly respected group gets precisely the respect that it deserves -- none.

Actually, I go by the group's own definition of junk science...which amazingly fits some of their own conclusions. I admit that much of what they do is perfectly legit and scientifically sound, but I've read some of theirs and other groups' research and some of what they treat as sound science is still up in the air with the rest of the scientific community. Funny how most of their questionable stuff happens to involve politics. Its like they might have some sort of agenda outside the realm of science.
I do remember an article in my local paper (you'll have to forgive me, I can't link/cite it...forgot) that said that a lot more than the 48 Nobel Laureates were given a chance to get involved with this recent anti-Bush campaign a few months ago, but the majority refused.
