MacBook Screen Protector

by BeatleMegaFan - 7/27/08 9:03 PM

My MacBook receives a lot of use. When I leave it open, the screen frequently catches dust and is prone to smudges. I tend to clean it a few times every couple of weeks. I try to keep my machine in top condition, so I'm looking at some stuff to keep my screen protected (and cleaner) to make things easier.

I'd like some takes on this iKlear product, and this Power Support film. I believe I have one of those Power Support films for my iPod, and it does the job. Bit hard to attach though, and I wonder if it will work as well on my MacBook's screen. I guess my question is if these products will solve the problem. If anyone has used these before, are these products a good bet? Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the ShaggyMac cleaner / prodtectors

iKlear tends to leave horrible smudges on the lcd.

We now use a Shaggymac MacBook Screen Protector and the Optimist Prime lcd cleaning spray. Both have worked to keep my screen immaculate.

There are other products out there, but we have found these to work as advertised, thus worthy of our vote.

Macally screen protectors

I've always used the Macally disposable screen protectors. They are easy to apply, last for months, stay where you put them, and fit Mac laptops perfectly without trimming. Also, the adhesive they use does not leave a residue on your screen.

As for cleaners, don't use anything with alcohol or ammonia (glass cleaner). I use Klear screen, and if I remember correctly, I picked it up at Fry's.

Identity Crisis! Off Topic

How did I become "lampietheclown--2008"? with no posts? My profile is empty, and says I registered in 2005. Did I know then that I would need this profile in 2008? Is my real name Jason Bourne? Where did I hide my automatic weapons?

All part of the Big Brother buy in/Out

I went from being mrmacfixit, both here and on macfixit, to being mrmacfixit here and mrmacfixit --2008 on macfixit.

Reason? There was already a mrmacfixit on macfixit. Hmmmm! Could that have been me?

All part of being in the CBS outfit.

You might want to shoot an email to Lee Koo and ask what the deal is. That's if you really need your alter ego back again. If not, you WILL be assimilated
