No CD/DVD Drive?

by docyj - 10/27/09 8:06 AM

For some reason, when a CD or DVD is inserted, the drive is no longer detected. When going to "My Computer", the drive does not show up there either. The laptop model is an Acer Inspire 5100 -3357.
Please help.

Does it show up in the BIOS setup?

Most likely a new drive is the solution here.

DVD drive not seen by windows

This problem is caused by two Windows registry entries that have become corrupted. To fix the problem, you have to use Registry Editor to delete the corrupted Registry entries. To use this method, you must be logged on to Windows as an administrator. If you need help verifying that you are an administrator, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/admin (http://support.microsoft.com/gp/admin)

go to this site and follow the directions there for the operating system that you are running Vista or Xp etc.
