Laptop Model Number - HP Pavilion dv 2700 / Service Tag - dv 2747 TX
Laptop is not working completely at the moment. Since several months this laptop has started to give various troubles. Below, I have written down the things I have noted about the laptop.
18-10- 2009
Windows Vista loaded successfully, after about 15 minutes the screen changed to pale yellow and suddenly the screen became black. Then the blue memory dump screen appeared. System was restarted once again and
started working normally.
19-10-2009
Laptop turned on, but no display. Screen was black with a white glow. Couldn't see anything on the screen. Didn't hear Vista start up sound. Had to manually turn off the laptop by pressing the power button.
25-10-2009
Vista launched successfully, but the brightness of the screen colour had been reduced. When had a closer look, identified a pattern of small blue dices. OS has been halted. Had to turn off manually.
27- 10- 2009
Laptop was working finely, but suddenly stopped with an internal beep.
30- 10- 2009
Took a backup of data and restored the laptop to its original condition by using its internal restore facility. After the restoration process, turned on the computer. No response from the laptop , just a black screen with a white glow. Nothing is happening.
I don't have the rescue disks as those were stolen recently when a burglary happened .
Any help would be really appreciated..
1. UNPLUG ALL USB DEVICES. Many models do what you wrote when USB or in the dock.
2. if you can't measure the CMOS battery, replace it. As there are service manuals online, I'll not duplicate more or write how to measure this battery.
3. Read the TOP POST IN THIS FORUM and try the RESET noted.
Beyond that it looks like a trip to hp for repairs. As to the lost CDs, HP sells those but given the story it may a waste of money.

Thanks Bob.. I will be back to you after try those steps...
Your post is great. I can't tell you how important it is to share the exact make and model numbers. The dates help too but be sure to note the acquisition date so the age of the machine is known.
Good example of how to get all the information down and done up front. This helps so we can skip the "What is it" questions.

HI,
I bought my DV2700 14 months ago .
I have a problem - The display of screen dissapeare after few seconds or even no display when turn it ON.
Even with external screen got same problem.
I heared that On this problem ( mybe board problem) I got life time warranty.
How can I know it?
Regards,
Moshe
You just use that warranty. It's like a car warranty. Your car does not start. Most would call the warranty center and get them to deal with it.
Here you might want to make sure your backups are current and if not consider pulling the drive out onto some USB adapter to get the files out before it heads to the HP shop.

Hi,
The computer has only 1 year warranty , and now 2 nonth after warranty end , My question is if the board warranty is for lifetime?
Thanks
This is where you ask the company that you have warranty with or provide a link so members can read it and weigh in with opinions. The problem I'm found is the delay from failure to when the owners call it in. They lose all that time which in some states EXTENDS the warranty by the time it's in the shop or failed. This is where good record keeping pays off.
