Can someone tell me how to get to the fan on my Satellite A-45 S150 so that I can replace it. It is not working.
Thanks, FR
There are 2 fans in this Toshiba (A45-S150) Satellite.
In the past I've removed and replaced the hard drive, removed and cleaned the secondary fan and heat sink, and added memory.
Most of this was done via the helpful guides on the great website: http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaA45/Satellite-A45-remove-hinges-1.htm
By the way pa-pal this guy a few bucks for all the great work he has done.
Unfortunately, I can't locate specific how to on removing the bottom of the laptop and the motherboard to get at the fan... Great design huh?
So. I'm going to suck it up and try to do it myself. I plan to document/ good photos and post it to my web page (if I don't destroy my machine)
One would think that the "community" of users of this bordering on antique machine would have provided a lot more on how to keep these things alive, but...
Anyway, I should get my replacement fan in the coming week and then it's do or die time.

Hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite 1905-S301 and I'm having trouble booting it up. I know the HDD has problems, but when I remove it and attempt to boot from the recovery disks I cannot proceed due to a strange problem with my keymap. I can get it to request a [y/n] command, but when I press [y] and [n] I get nothing, as if I had hit enter. It seems to be voided. Other keys produce similar effects while some produce strange symbols such as Black smiley faces, white smiley faces, arrows, upside down question marks, etc.
Is there anything I can do?
Thanks!
Not sure what is wrong. It is possible that the system board is bad. Try to update/reflash BIOS.

I am actually trying to replace the power jack but can't get the hard drive out to be able to get to the power jack. I was hoping there'd be a screw under the keyboard but no luck. Any help would be appricated; I hate to pay someone $150 to replace a $5 part!

The left hinge on my A-S121 is broken - do I have to do ALL the disassembly (remove the DVD drive, RAM, etc) or can I just start by removing the keyboard and go from there?
All I can think of here is that you'll have to use the reference material to figure this out.
