Cheers!

Sure thing! Thought I’d just get that out here for the community. I’ve had a lot of fun interacting with the people here and wanted to make sure they saw this.
Also, here’s the link to the Windows 7 Team blog – great place to stay tuned to: http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/windows7/default.aspx

I am very excited to go from Windows Vista to Windows 7, but I have heard that I have to reinstall and cannot upgrade it as in earlier versions. Is this true?
Windows XP users must perform a clean install, but you, as a Windows Vista user, can perform a standard upgrade, as you have likely done in the past.

Except before I get Windows 7 I'm still going to wait until it's out for at least a year... so that the first wave of buyers can report their bugs. Once most of the 'major' bugs are fixed I might try it. If I don't feel like it, Windows Vista still does the trick :P
I can understand that. At least you're not going with the ostrich approach.
Cheers,

nope :P
I'm gonna let the first wave of buyers report all the bugs. so that when I'm going to use it, it will be less buggy ![]()
being tested by the public?
Why did Vista have lots of problems?
You can't expect people to get rid of all the problems during the RC. It takes many years to make an OS very stable and mature. RC is just to get rid of the main usage problems.
Kidding, kidding...
Yeah, the Beta and RC periods weed out lots of issues, but the fact is you can't catch everything because not everyone has used the new OS for the types of everyday computing they do.
That said, you can see where people are having really good experiences with Windows 7, people who generally aren't incredibly computer-savvy are even enjoying it.
I (and this is my personal opinion and no one else's) think that you'll see a pretty smooth transition here.
Cheers,

They made it easy to use and so far the feedback is great.
Question: Could you comment on the startbar? It looks awfully like KDE?
p.s. @ the perfect OS: If there was a perfect OS everyone would be using it :P
I have an HP that had Vista Home premium on it that I hated with a passion, so I backed up all my important photos and docs then downloaded Windows 7 to try. The computer's already acting much better. It only has a gig of ram, but it doesn't feel like it's going to crash every five minutes. Since it's not my main working computer I've decided to put nothing but freeware apps on it for everything from composing music to editing videos. We'll see how it goes.
Glad you’re liking the RC (even with only 1GB of RAM, no less).
Hope things continue to be good for you. Did you see the announcement about general availability for Windows 7 yet?

Cheers,

I've seen it. I hope there isn't a half dozen flavors of it like Vista. Although I hated home premium, I have ultimate on another laptop and it's no problem. I'm waiting for W7 to come out on a netbook before getting one.
