Inspiron 1318 Problems

by ViperMM - 11/6/09 3:16 AM

I have been having trouble with my new laptop it is a Dell Inspiron 1318. It has a Intel Graphics card (My problem). I was able to play These games on it in Win7's Beta but now that I have the full version I am having trouble.ALL of my games don't work. They don't even display an error. I have updated my Graphics Card and DirectX. To no avail. The Win7 Beta I was using was 32-bit and my full version is 64-bit... Could that have anything to do with why it worked then when I upgraded it stopped?? I was wondering if there were some settings I could tinker with somewhere... I have already tried compatibility mode... Any help is appreciated...

BTW The Games are:
Halo
Fable: TLC
GTA: Vice City
GTA: San Andreas
Unreal Tournament
Doom 3
Need for Speed Underground 2

"I have updated my graphic card". That sounds like hardware. But I assume you mean the driver. Are you sure you chose a Windows 7 compatible 64-bit compatible driver? Where did you download it from?

If you run dxdiag (the directx diagnostics program) what happens in the video test?

My bet is the move to 64 bit.

I don't think there is a ready fix but moving to 64 bit is going to take time for the softwares to catch up. You should have seen the same issues on Vista 64 bit.

Ok, here's the machine docs:

Ouch. I see it could have many video solutions. Since your post is incomplete it's time to call Dell and ask for what collection of drivers you should use on YOUR machine.

Try newer drivers.

Over at intel.com I think the current date and version for the 965 chipset is 9/7/2009 9.1.1.1019

You should go get those.

We may be at the limits of Intel GPU capability.

While I know you want more, I think you learned a valuable lesson here about driver updates and how buttons and wizards don't always get you the latest or help you pick the right versions.

Sorry but this is all I can offer for the GPU.

-> Try researching what AUDIO DRIVERS you can update. That's another part of this game play issues.

-> AND BE CAREFUL HERE. Many lose their sound and forget what they did to break it, don't know how to use System Restore or Driver Rollback.
